So, why exactly is FireFox better?

I currently use IE for my web browser, and almost everyone I know has been telling me to download FireFox. I've been thinking of doing it, but first I want to know why it is better. All of my friends just say, "'Cause it's like faster and cooler and stuff!" Or something to that extent. >_>

Riiight... :ermm:

Anyhoo, since I have no other opinions on the matter, I figure I'll ask here. Why do you like FireFox better (if you in fact do). I might get it if I have enough opinions/proof.

Any comments would be highly appreciated! ^_^

Oh, and please, no "wtf u n000b!1 its sooo mchu kewler!"

Thanks. :)

Because it isn't IE.

Simply that.

Oh and I don't like Firefox either. I prefer Mozilla Suite.

Ok as a firefox user since 0.91 I will tell you why.

Firefox is safer against attacks because it does not use active x. It is so muhc safer! I get a whole lot less spyware on my pc since I have used it.

Its way faster! The pages load fast even on dial up! Try loading the same page with IE and you have to wait longer.

It has tabs. Tabs mean you can open many pages in one window for easy access from one page to another! The bookmarks toolbar folder lets you add most used bookmarks to the top out in the open.

The built in download manager is very good also!

Removed - NO ADVERTISING!!!

Hope this helps

Do you know those flashy WINNER ads? With Adblocker (an extension on Firefox) you can make it so you never see any of those again.

Chatzilla is an IRC Client Extension that you can access VIA the browser.

If you have Gmail (Google Email), there's this awesome extension called the Gmail Checker. It tells you when you have a new email on you're gmail account.

:3 People like me with a Old-Timey OS (Windows 98-) get to enjoy atleast Lookalike XP Graphics by downloading themes.

^_^ That's why I have Firefox.

*Dark Kam pokes xupiter that somehow mysteriously got into my system and kept hijacking my home page

X_X I don't think Home Pages can get hijacked on Firefox, it's never happened to me before.

Oh, and you know how on IE it makes that stupid "Page Cannot Be Displayed" thing when you disconnect from the internet when you were on a website that you really needed to use? Doesn't happen on firefox.

All it does is tell us in an alert that "Operation Timed out while trying to connect to [Website]". Stays on the page you were last on. ^_^

I did a test to see which was safer. For two hours I left IE open at a bunch of porn sites I got
213 aware's 12 spyware's
I did the same with firefox I got
2 adware's and 1spyware
I opened a IE and took it msn and left it on overnight I got
14 adware and 1 spyware
I did the same with firefox and got
1 adware and 0 spyware
