With this whole Anti-Support Volunteer thing going on, I'm begining to wonder why those who volunteer in the support forums are so hated around here. Some support volunteers are annoying, true, but there are also many who give accurate and constant support that really helps people out. To be honest, I almost never see anyone from the support team giving support in the forums (please don't flame me for this; the fact is, that most of you guys just don't. Notice I said most.) Anyway, the support team isn't on nearly enough to solve every support topic, or even an eighth of them at that. There are many support volunteers who are good people volunteering in their spare time to lend a helping hand out of the goodness of their hearts. And what do they get for giving time and effort into helping someone else? They get made fun of. They get insulted. They get fan clubs created against them. You know, I'm surprised that any volunteers give any support at all after what they have to go through. You should be thanking them, not slandering them. Alright, InvisionFree. Here's a test for you. Let's say that for a whole week, there was no support volunteering allowed. See how many topics are answered. See how many problems just sit there and go unsolved. It would be the vast majority, I assure you. The way I see it, people just take support volunteers for granted, and insult them for enjoyment. ake away the support volunteers and see what happens. This board will fall apart, I kid you not. Please, to anyone reading this, before going around and flaming the support volunteers again, and before joining any of these ridiculous fan clubs, think about it. I am really sick of the getting bashed all the time for helping out the community. Many people will probably get mad at me for posting this. In fact, I'm sure of it. The fact is, that many people have this opinion as well as I, but they are afraid to voice it because the staff wou;dn't agree with them. Well, I believe in saying what I think is right. It's simple; thank the volunteers once in a while, don't belittle them. Many members also say they are anti-volunteerssimply because they want to get on the good side of the staff. This is the stupidest reason of all, in my opinion, no offense to anyone of course. So please...look at the support volunteers with just a hint of respect, if you would. That's all. |

Yes, I know they answer support tickets, and they are very busy. ![]() But that is just part of the reason volunteers are needed. |

I absolutly agree, I had helped many, many people in the Support Forrums but now with this whole thing going on I barely even look there anymore. I am sure that I am not the only one who has always tried to give good support to those who need help and then was not respected for what I did. |

I've never hated Support Volunteers, it's the name that kills me. I mean are not all of the staff volunteers? If not, what are we then, employees? No, we're not employees. We volunteer our time here to help with the support forum. Just as does these 'Support Volunteers' except we have more privileges. It sounds as though 'Support Volunteers' are breaking there backs helping the community, doing something for free, simply because they are volunteers. When sure, you can consider it that, but Support Staff are volunteers too, and are doing much more than that. It's what is behind the scenes nobody sees. I also dislike when users proudly display 'Support Volunteer' in their profile or sig. Though not true for everybody, it seems as though they want appreciation for what they are doing and in some cases rewarded with an offer to be on staff. Sure, we do appreciate it, but we notice you with our eyes. There is no need to spell it out for us.

http://sd2k.everywebhost.com/Wiki/index.ph...pport_volunteer It's not the whole group of them that gets me mad, it's the ones that fit THAT description. Hell, I was one myself about a year ago. :E
Aye. I like helping people with what I can. Isn't that how people are chosen for the position of "Support"? :3 You don't need to see it in our signature to know that we want to help. |

Dark Kam, I do not fit that description as I always try to use correct grammar and always try to give the correct information. Therefore that description is quite flawed, especially because many of the Support Volunteers that I saw use proper grammar and give correct information. |

Considering this, very rough post: http://support.invisionfree.com/index.php?showtopic=110373 I may guess admins are getting sick of overwhelming stupidity of some people who are posting support even if they has no idea about the subject etc. Well looks like not only me has allergy for stupidity. :X Anyway I have a guilty conscience that I posted once something like "no problem" oh god! What have I done! :o Anyway it is funny when I find a topic which is interesting for me, I will write an answer and after I post I see a thread above me by some 13 years old kid who seem not possesed English skills at level sufficient to be underestood...;) Regards. |

its inpersanting staff. If some one was to say they were a member of the Local Police Vonteer squad (and there is not one) you would realy wonder about them and they could get charged with impersantion of a figure of athourty. which the staff have athourty on this site in a sence. |

I heard about this 'anti-support' crap. But I never did get the definition of what it actually meant. |

A Support Volunteer is not a member who does Support. A support Volunteer is a member that gives wrong support. So, even with that test, members that actually give correct support can handle the support along with the Staff. |

I agree with Luna. I would personally hate to be staff, because they are doing very tedious work for free. They are some of the most devoted individuals I know of. For people to demean them by calling themselves "volunteers" and implying that the support staff aren't is aweful. |

If you ever receive any abuse about being a support volunteer or something along those lines feel free to forward it to me and I'll kick some butt. ![]() I for one dislike the stereotypical 'Support Volunteer', I do not however dislike people who give good, accurate support. I salute them really. I do have a problem with people wearing it in their signatures or member titles for the reasons Luna stated and yes it can often make me assume they are incapable of good support if they are new. I mean...new people...claiming to be 'Support Volunteers'...what's with that? It's especially annoying when they are people who know little and give either inaccurate support or simply spam up support topics. But again people who actually give good support are not disliked by me, I think most of us will appreciate the effort and help. Personally I would say if you think you're giving good support don't label yourself, show you're unique and not willing to join such a fad. How likely are people who state Support Volunteer likely to become staff? I know I certainly wouldn't be considering a 'Moderator Volunteer' for the next staff position. ![]() Like Looners said, we pick up on people who are doing good with or without the label. In fact, probably more so without it. Yes, technically people who do it are volunteering but again they almost make it sound like we get paid to do our jobs. We are volunteers ourselves but a big difference is you can stop doing it without anyone noticing whereas we can't really. Well, we can quit but I wouldn't personally like to give up my position just for a rest when I can't be bothered. :/ *shrugs* Support Volunteer has always said to me the person thinks they are somehow worthy of great praise and are doing a highly stressful 'job' which has always annoyed me hence why I dislike the label and moreso those who actually fit into what has become known as the average 'Support Volunteer'. That said, I again salute those who help out and are doing us wonders by giving good support. I'm sure the others appreciate it too. And if you receive any nonsense about support volunteering then do feel free to forward it to me or a fellow moderator and we'll deal with it. I dislike the label but I dislike people who think they have the right to abuse people just because of it and might even go as far as to say I hate people who think they can do it to those who are giving genuinely good support without wearing some silly label. ![]() All I'd say is keep doing a good job, rid of the label if you have it and be yourself. Plenty of people have been rewarded for giving support, Matt for one was an awesome member at giving support. Lothy too, Ryan also I hear was a support-a-holic. I'm guessing all (or most?) of the support staff ended up on the team because of their ability to give good support? I'm sure bribary fits in somewhere too.
