That fact that M$ can be hacked does not say that much...
They US goverment does not have the ability to hack whoever they want whenever they want If they had they would have to arrest themselfs [edit] If I would be so good that I could do that, I would defenitly NOT want to work for some stupid goverment So don't think they really have a lot of really good security experts and stuff[/edit]
IFS is just an IF board, like all others. (Or at least thats what they tell us) So hacking it would not take more effort then hacking any other IF board. (When it comes to cracking, I'm pretty sure the staff here has good passwords )Personaly I do beleave that IF can be hacked. IT would take a lot of skils, more determination to get those skils. And somebody that just wants to F up things proably does not have enough determination to get those skils (Or the intelect it takes )*Qj forgets what he was getting at :$ Anyway, EVERYTHING can be hacked (as long as it is connected to the system you are using to hack it :\ ) including IF, including M$, including the US goverment. There just are not a lot of people (if any) that have the skills. *Qj hopes the staff understands that I'm just trying to explain something. So don't ban me ok  |

IF is hackable like everything else, FBI got hacked so IF can get hacked too, but thanks God 99.99% people who claims to be hackers are too stupid to hack IF. ![]() Regards. |

Why not  This is related to IF, there is nothing against the ToS or any board rules in here, so I don't see why we should not talk about this... |

While it's true, "anything" can be hacked...I reaaallyy doubt you're gonna see IF get hacked. 1. There's no mysql access, no FTP access, etc. and so fourth. The main tools that most hackers of IPB's use to get in [using brute-force programs and such]. 2. As skilled as the GOV3RMENT may be at "hacking", I reaaally doubt they have a button that says "Hack u plz!". They gotta do it like anyone else.3. Practically all methods of hacking on an Invisionfree forum are cut off-which means, while it's POSSIBLE, I guess...It's preettyyy unlikely you'll see a hacked IF board. [That I know of, there hasn't been a hacked IF board yet. Just a lot of cracked ones. ] 4. Anyone who actually COULD do it, probably wouldn't have a reason to want to. I've known a "hacker" before; they're not all evil people who stay home in their mom's basements 24-7 trying to hack sites. Just a lot of them. =P5. Unlike a fan-site about Naruto or something, if Invisionfree [as part or in a whole] was somehow hacked [which'd take a lot of effort, methinks]...hey, the guy who did it actually CAN be filed lawsuits on, and this can go places. 6. Even if it was hacked, I'm sure it wouldn't be the end of the world; Duffman's got backups somewhere, and can eventually get things back up, no? =P So..eh. |

You are speaking like you would perform a security audit for IF. So how do you know what other services are working on IF? How do you know potential flaws in these services, how do you know their verions, how do you know how are updates made etc. If you have a forum you have an access to the database, if you are clicking on "add reply" you are sending something to the database, you have some priviledges even if these are very limited - well, hacking means using limited priviledges to get higher ones, I am not telling that is possible on IF, since I have not checked, to not break TOS, anyway I think you are a little talking here on behalf of IF staff. ![]() Also you seem to not know what is hacking, hacking according to Eric S. Raymond is doing something the other normally can't do. And since every 13 years old kiddie can download a brute force program, a trojan horse, a virus, keylogger and use it, it is not hacking anymore. ;-) Anyway, there I see threads like "X told he will hack IF" well, all what I can say to people who are telling others such threats is: MWAHAHAHAHA! Because such people are in 99.9999% too stupid to even use a program written by someone else or even their own browser. Regards. |

Were you referring to me, or the begginer of this thread? XP And yeah, you've got your points. And I know that by clicking Add Reply, you're sending information to the database-I'm saying, we don't have the simple luxuries of having full-blown mysql access, for example [which'd turn into chaos.] 2hot4u: hi peeps on if! liek my name on my mysql box iz 2hot4u n my paswserd is 5. dont hack me plz! --- 2hot4u: omg omg no!! no!!! i gots hacked! help me plz! XP I doubt things'd go to THAT extent, but you get the idea. And Invisionfree has a LESS-likely chance of being hacked-I never said it was 100% impossible, just unlikely. =P |

Technically you don't (ever) have direct access to the database when you are posting (there is one exception, which is the ACP notepad. Whose going to crack themselves?). When you type data into the textbox, first it parses it. It turns all the characters from text into HTML code (e.g. the © symbol in HTML code is ©). Therefore you cannot run SQL queries on the database. |

I think just about everything is hackable. I mean, if hackers can get into FBI files, then I think that they could get into almost anything. |

even if IF did get hacked, it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Not like theres really important message boards on IF and there are back up databases. |

You got a point. Nothing on the net is 100% hack proof, including InvisionFree. |

Absolutely true. It is a fact that no website is perfect, and that there is always a loophole somewhere along the line, but be realistic here. If IF could be hacked so easily, would we be discussing this right now? I guarantee that a lot of people have unsuccessfully attempted to hack into IF in the past. Just as with any other major website, hacking has to bear near inpossible for IF to function. |

Hmm... Well, I don't know how relevant this is. More relevant then a topic about the weekend ![]() (But then again, that topic was moved :\ ) This topic started about if IF is or isnot hackable. Its still about that, so its still about IF (In some way) And I meant: This is not against the rules, its about IF, so if we want to talk about this, why not? |
