Opitical mouses

 DO NOT GET A WIRELESS MOUSE! Wireless Keyboards are ok but keep away from a system. They both run off of the same wireless reciever and if you move the mouse any while you try to type the letters wont show. Now on some expensive systems they may not do this...

But the wireless optical mice eat batteries in no time flat.

I've been really happy with mine, and I use it.. far too much.
$19.99, very comfortable, accurate, stylish.. the color won't wear off any of the buttons like it did on my old Microsoft one, because they're rubberized.
You can get it with 5 buttons too, but I hate those, as they're always getting pushed accidentally.
There's really no reason for the average person to shell out the extra money for a wireless, but if you're going to be using it 8 hours a day or something, being able to switch to lefthanded without adjusting the cable is sort of nice.
And if your cable is too short for your layout, you can get a USB extension cable for a few bucks and still end up paying less than for a wireless, plus you never have to worry about paying for or running out of batteries.

Plus if you're playing a PC game on the net.... and you're just about to kill the final boss.. and you're on your last life..but you put your sword up against his neck..and ur ready to slice him to death..... but then the mouse runs out of batteries and he kills u ....... I GUARANTEE you will never want to use a wireless mouse again.

I would have thought they had fixed those kinds of problems during the testing stages.

 I have been very very happy with my Microsoft mouse. Microsoft may have their problems with their software, but they do hardware very very well.

I have a wireless optical mouse (3 button version), and it has lasted me excellently for at least 2 years now. It has even been full of beer and still works (morning after a party [was running computer through my hi-fi for access to all my music] i picked up my mouse and beer poured out of it.. i thought the worst, but it worked fine).

Batteries usually last a good 3 months at least, and that is with fairly heavy usage. It gives me a warning way before they batteries actually start to die, so if there is a chance i will need to have full use of the mouse, i can change it before it becomes a problem.

I'm probably going to upgrade my mouse to the latest one after a few more months :)

 I have a Microsoft <_< optical mouse... and it actually works. (Not counting the times I have to get down between the dust bunnies to unplug and replug it to get it back to life. But hey, to be fair that COULD just as well be as XP issue... )

Hubby has a cordless optical mouse from Logitech and it works like a charm, but uses quite a few batteries... he bought a set of re-chargeable ones for it. The cordless keyboard has been more buggy though...

 man i have my old ball mouse STILL and i actually like it better than any optical/led mouse ive ever used. although the logitech 70$ dollar mouse is oh so nice

 Logitech MX 700 so if it is wireless best mouse ever, well besides the 1000? or 900? I dunno anyways, its not under 20$ but its very nice, about 7 buttons or so, rechargeable nice and smooth, my connection between my computer and the mouse never seems to loose, I play alot of FPS games and I never die because of lack of connection and I actually got better with the mouse.

Me too. I only use mine sometimes, but when I do, it works really well. It helps when you are trying to use PSP9, or cut PSDs, or just do anything, really.
