I registered one with Active Topics realised that it sucked, stumbled upon IF by chance and lived happily ever after!

A Harry Potter board I was on closed down and a few members made their own sites through IF. I hadn't heard of them (IF) until then and I googled IF and decided that I would have a go of making my own site - its been great, I've learnt loads and I'm still learning and enjoying myself. So thanks IF. :D

I joined one of my friend's boards. I asked him how he made it and said he got it from invisionfree.com, so I went and registered.

So, where did you find IF?

I was a member of the Invision community forums way back when it was all new and sparkly. There were a few discussions of certain members setting up a remotely hosted Invision service for people who couldn't afford webhosting. I seem to remember someone named Monster who tried it, but couldn't get it to work? Duffman was also talking about setting it up.

When the link was posted, I followed over. Didn't join because at the time I had hosting. A few months later, I and a few other people broke away from another forum and started a new one. We were using Lycos, but something happened and it royally screwed up the database. I remembered InvisionFree, popped over, and created a new board for us to use.

I'm a member of the Removed forums, and my friend posted a link to his forum. It came to a success, and the next day, I looked at the bottom, and it said
'Hoster for free by InvisionFree|......'So I registered, and viola, I'm here!

Twilight is upon me, and soon night must fall.

2 years ago, when yodaminch.com was hometown.aol.com/Yodaminch421, I began a hunt for a decent message board. Not one of those little dinky ones. I wanted what boards.theforce.net had. So I searched throughout google for months, bounced around dozens of forum providers until one day someone advertised their board in the jc fan site area. I a quick look at the copyright and I registered my board, then without skins and board wrappers. Still I was happy with being able to have a private message system! :P

I went from P r o b o a r d s to IF simply because IF was overall a much more advanced and customizable free forum host.

<3 IF.

same here. My buddy told me IF was way better, I experimented, was wowed at how much better it is, and switched a couple weeks later because I had to get the hang of it and make sure everyone knew about the switch.

I believe it was through the link in the copyright on some other IF forum I was a member at.

I found out through Proboards. Members were talking about how IF looks more professional than PB, so I tried it, and IF is much better.
