I met a woman today at worked that is a professional typer (like types for courts and for the deaf on TV shows) she claimed she could type 310 Words Per Minute ! So i asked her what the trick was and she went through a huge 15 minute explanation of it... but considering it takes a long time to learn it (it's a college course you can take where you graduate with a degree!) ...i 'm not going to bother :P ...but just to let you know, it is possible.

basically it involves huge strokes..like alamir would be spelt "al eu phrl" and though it looks like it has more letters, it would be done in three strokes. i.e

first stroke: al
second stroke: eu
third stroke: phrl

which is twice as fast as A-L-A-M-I-R which is 6 strokes.

I have a friend who works doing the subtitles for TV.

She has some large speed like that, but she also writes on a special shorthand keyboard.

For the 8th grade type exam, (you need 35wpm to pass), I got 215. Big deal...

Some people have fast fingers, some dont. As long as you get the job done. B)

unless you were using their short hand keyboards they use for TV, there is no way anyone on this site got more than 150 WPM. Whatever program you were using was lying to you, if it was a good program tell me teh name of the company.

Spelling errors count.

Keep in mind that the standard QWERTY keyboard that is used for computers was based on the typewriter keyboard. A typewriter could only go so fast the the keyboardf was made to limit your typing speed. An alternative key layout and order would allow you to type much faster.
