mmmm that is a seriously fast 310 pm. I used to be a professional typist and I was averaging about 85 - 90 wpm. Although mine was (and still is) on a QWERTY keyboard. I have always wanted to have a go at those courtroom keyboards. Everytime I see one now on tv I think of the Friends character Ross saying "stop typing, stop typing" :P

Keep in mind that the standard QWERTY keyboard that is used for computers was based on the typewriter keyboard. A typewriter could only go so fast the the keyboardf was made to limit your typing speed. An alternative key layout and order would allow you to type much faster.

do you use the QWERTY ? My brother is a programmer in the states and he uses one where teh most common used letters are on the home-row keys. (which is a different system from the one i was talking about in the original message..that system has no letter "M" :P )

Is there like, a program I can use to figure out how fast I type? This topic has aroused my curiosity. :)

I read this topic before, and just funnily enough, I'm dating someone who's a court reporter. She does what was mentioned in the first post, sits in session and types the proceedings, as well as stuff for the deaf for tv, and other things. I haven't asked her yet how many words she can type per minute, but I'll get back to ya. ;)

My gross speed was 61 wpm, and my net speed was 59 wpm. I made 2 errors, which I WOULD have fixed, but NoOoOo...
