I've noticed that the boards now have an archive link at the bottom of the page. Looks sort of like IPB 2.0's Lo-Fi Version feature. Does this have anything to do with IF 2? :r

The archive is a guest readable version of your forum. If you do not allow guests to view you forum it will not do anything special.

As for IF2 probably not

It has nothing to do with IF 2. It is just another feature we are adding before IF 2 is released.

The current archive is a guest view of the board. We plan to expand the archive to palm/cellphone friendly pages that you can login and post on.

I remember one of the versions of IPB had this problem. I am sure it's just a matter of dumping the PHP code that deals with IP band members into the Lo-Fi version.

Brandon, you apparently bought an older version of IPB 2. The newer ones have fixed this problem.

I have not decided if banned users should be able to see the archive in its current form. Once posting is allowed in a later version there certainly will be an IP ban.

It is not the lofi feature from IPB.

This new Archive feature seems like the Lo-Fi feature on IPB, nonetheless it's a good feature.

I dont understand it

It basically shows a history of the forum, and all of its topics since the beginning. :)

The importance of it is that it will cause search engines to rank your forum more highly.

1) Less cruft around the content.
2) "Permanent" URLs, rather than ?variables=stuff. Search engines penalize these kind of links.
