Getting control of the boards isn't hard if you have access to the database.

You'd be surprised how different IPB 1.3 looks from IF now

It does? I have an Invision Power Board 1.2 and it doesn't look that different. I did install a lot of the features Brandon had installed.

I expect that Brandon got a copy of IPB when it was free. He might have used that and changed the system so that once database could hold many boards.

I expect he will have to program IF 2 based on the ideas in IPB 2. Since it has a licensing system, he can't just use it on this forum service. I don't think you can patent the idea though, so Brandon should be able to create IF 2 based on IPB 2.

I think the "archive" feature is based on the idea of the "lo-fi" feature in IPB 2.

Brandon said before he InvisionFree v2.0.0 won't be a re-creation of Invision Power Board v2.0.1 nor will it be based off of it.

He also said the new Archive feature isn't based off of the Lo-Fi on Invision Power Board.

I remember one of the versions of IPB had this problem. I am sure it's just a matter of dumping the PHP code that deals with IP band members into the Lo-Fi version.

Brandon, you apparently bought an older version of IPB 2. The newer ones have fixed this problem.

I have not decided if banned users should be able to see the archive in its current form. Once posting is allowed in a later version there certainly will be an IP ban.

It is not the lofi feature from IPB.

IF2 is totally independent from IPB2.0. Brandon is constantly looking into different and better ways to implement features that users will need.

InvisionFree was clearly based of IPB, however, Brandon has essentially done a complete rewrite of the underlying code to get it to work as it currently does.

IF2 is a step further than that. Nothing to base the code off, just a completely new piece of software.

Grr.. i'll go point it out then. Proboards v1 was based off YaBB, as ya'll should notice it still looks pretty similar, even if the base coding has changed completely.

And it's still flat file and yucky :(

Still. IPS is much more completely and thorough than this YaBB you speak of. :P
