Hi, We have recently started a board on ezBoard, on which we worked very hard with a number of initiatives to encourage posters. Within a month, we attracted over 60 members. We are very impressed and pleased with this! However, ezBoard has recently been hacked and a large portion of their systems have been down for nearly a week. We have lost everything. Posts and Members. They can't even restore from backup because their backups were online (?) and were also attacked - the last one was taken back on 9th May, apparently. So, coupled with the rest of the vagaries of ezBoard, we are looking to change provider. Is it possible to: * Create RSS feeds from topics or integrate RSS feeds into the board layout? * Modify individual 'room' designs * As far as TOC go, do you allow private forums that are open on approval to users? We had an "Adult" forum with adult chat (no pics, or anything) which was vetted. Is this permitted under the TOC's? * Share logins across boards * Host images and resources such as JavaScript remotely? * Have active sigs - either a BBCode type language and/or HTML Many thanks for anyone who can answer these questions. I am impressed so far! I need to prove to our board owner that it is worth carrying on and not dumping the bath and the water. |

He said in another topic that the upgrade will be soon, soon can mean 4-5 more months though so don't get all excited. |

Please try not to go off topic (talking about the upgrade etc.). Anyway, as Seth said, we are near an upgrade which means a lot of features you want aren't available yet, but I can assure you InvisionFree is very reliable and provides lots of useful features already for you. Stick around with us for a while - when the upgrade comes, like Seth said, a lot of the features you asked for will probably become available

Thanks guys. You've been most helpful. I guess the only sticking point is the Adult Forum. We do value our private forum! To be honest, it does suprise me that you don't allow even hidden forums, which should be enough to protect your backs. I'll see what the original board owner thinks ... |

What do you mean by Adult Forum?? You can have a private forum availble to a selected group but no ADULT content if you know what I mean. |

If by 'Adult' you mean content which cannot be viewed by under-18s, then no, you cannot have that posted on an InvisionFree board, regardless of whether it is hidden from children or not. The fact is that the content is on the server, and so underage members will still have the oppurtunity to view it if something happens to go wrong. If a child was to see it, and told their parents, who in turn tell the police, IF would be help reponsible and a hefty fine would be laid. |

Adult content not only means not for anyone below the age of 18, but it needs to be appropriate for 13+ year olds as well. Users need to be 13 or older to register on a forum. |

No, you can't. If you read my previous post (and Nir's), you'll understand why. |

To clarify: You can have hidden forums, they just cannot contain adult content. |

yes, you can hide forums, theres an option to hide the forum, and to still be able to access it if you know th link to it! so the forum doesnt even have to exist on the index page, but it can still be accessible! also, if you really really need this adult forum, then invision isnt for you! however, invision is by far the most relyable forum host i know of! exboards, proboards all eat invision dust! lol, but if your very carefull, and change teh password to this "adult forum" your board should be fine! just make sure you change teh pass every few days so its hard for anyone to guess teh pass to that forum, imo if noone but a chosen few know about it, no harm can be done, and invision cannot stop you if no reports are made from it! of course, tis isnt a wise idea, as lets say you did even better than 60 members, lets say 500 and over 50,000 posts, one report of porn or adult content will get your board trashed forever! so liek i started this post, if you want adult content, invision isnt for you! a way around this, is to purchase your own board, i know peoples forums that have "sex" related forums, not hardcore adult stuff but its that genre, and its also a powerboard, so maybe you should consider purchasig an invision powerboard! |
