I know a person in the UK, who's gotten arrested for uploading an illegale filehost to the internet. Downloading them is Legal but uploading them is Illegal. I'm just giving this info to you as a warning that if you plan to give music to a friend, DO NOT use a filehost as they can log and trace your ip. You will be arrested, and charged. I'm not saying that this is a new law, but since I know someone who atcually got arrested, just warning you all. This friend downloaded a music file which he then uploaded to a free host like YSI. He was then arrested, and is going to be charged. |

It used to be legal to upload and download, but they decided they mine aswell focus on only the uploaders since thiers less of them, and it's less money not ot mention if theres no uploaders, there no downloaders. |

I am not sure which countries laws you people are on about, but file sharing is illiagal, Steath it is not legal to download music files, it is only legal to have a backup of songs you have bought. This is not about what is legal and what is not, downloading is illigal but the police cannot stop it becasue there are millions of people doing it accross hundreds of countries. How would Kazaa fit into this? Is P2P considered uploading? it should be, |

What he said... I don't live in the UK, but this person said it was legal, and I assume it's the same as canada. |

the only people they crack on is the major hosters. to catch people downloading, the police or companies themselves must be hosting there own files to be downloaded illegally. and if ur smart u run a renew ip after everytime u run limewire or any p2p and thus reducing your chance to get caught by 100 fold. downloading gets away easy. hosting is hard to do without getting caught. especially if u are a major host |

There are no hard and fast rules on downloading/uploading cos you can be American and downloading from a British site, what country's laws apply? But it's certainly not true in Britain that you can download anything and not be breaking any laws. |

He only did this with 1 thing, and download is legal in UK and canada.
If the uploader is in america they follow american laws and the downloader is in Canada the follow canadas laws. Not the downloading of everything, for example child porn is still illegal, but music and other thingsa you'd find on p2p is legit. |

Yes, they may not be protected under RIAA (I think it is) As for brownman, it's not 100% of the people that get arrested. |
