The reason that http://boardname.invisionfree.com would not work is that many boards have a _ in their name, which isn't supported by subdomains.

I'm still backing board-name.if12.com

'-' characters are supported in sub-domains, and I don't see what the problem is converting them. :no:

When my dns updates I'll come back with a link for proof. >_<

 The fact that those short domains are already taken (at least, the 3 i tried are) makes that not a viable option.

'-' is usuable, but '_' isn't, and that is the problem. I don't think many people would be massivly happy if their board name changed to something else.
