What exactly is the Back-up system at IF?

Obviously, I'm coming from a long association with EZ. I do love it here, but I've had a support ticket open almost 48 hours without response, asking these basic questions:

1. how often, specifically, are boards backed up?

2. where are the back-ups stored?

3. how safe are the back-ups?

I just want to make sure I'm not leaving one system for another one with no better back-up systems in place. Fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice....

Anyhow, I do love it here. I just want some assurances about back-ups before I/we become too comfortable.

Thanks so much.

I think backups are made quite often. It's very safe, If your board goes down it is up in no time!

Thanks, but I need 'officials' to provide a tad more details than that. Like I said, you gotta understand I'm coming from EZ and the back-up disaster there.

This is something that only really Brandon can answer properly, however I belive backups are made regularly to protect data in case of problems.

Again, I cannot specifically say how often or where they are stored, as I do not know. But we have only ever had one major problem with dataloss, and measures were implemented to ensure that it never happened again.

Are you trying to say we're not trust worthy because Ez board was hacked? :ermm: If so, you are in no position to criticise our security since you know nothing about it nor the measures Brandon takes to secure IF and the servers. InvisionFree may not be invincible (the reality is, nothing in this world truly is) but Brandon has no doubt secured us against most scenarios, probably has also taken steps to keep us safe from situations that (like Ez board) are pretty much out of your own hand.

1. It depends on the type of backups. The backups that protect against cracked boards, evil moderators, or accidental deletions are essentially constant.
2. Again in various locations depending on the type of backup.
3. I am not sure how to answer this question.

for 3. He wonders if something like the server 2 accident would happen again, or something close. (I think).

Brandon, thank you for your response.

Daniel, I read the FAQ regarding back-ups. For those having experienced the EZ fiasco, 'frequent' back-ups doesn't tell us enough. Sorry.

As long as Brandon has assured us that back-ups are stored in various locations, then I can rest assured. AND I will report back to the ex EZOps that are concerned, and looking for a new system home.

Heck, you guys ought to be thanking me. I'm PR'ing IF in a HUGE way over there! LOL

Please read correctly.

You should make things a little clearer then, the post sounded like an implication that IF was as insecure as Ez board. I would not have mistaken it had you either not mentioned Ez board (considersidering the recent event) or if you had made it clearer you were not referring to the incident.
