I have (K)Ubuntu, I dont worry about spyware anymore ^_^

Although we are running Ubuntu, you have to remember that you can still pick up tracking cookies and stuff. I have yet to find something to keep my Ubuntu clean, but I haven't really looked too hard yet. :r But yeah, don't totally throw caution to the wind just because you can't get viruses and other things, there are still some annoyances. :yes:

For the rest of you running windows or dual (or more) booting, I have a nice list of free programs you can download to keep your PC safe.

AntiVir - An anti-virus program free for private use.
Lavasoft Ad-Aware - Sypware / adware remover
Spyware Doctor - Same as above
Spybot Search & Destroy - Same as above, has some nice tools that you can mess with for extra protection.

Yes, I have 3 spyware removers. It's a really good idea to use more than one because some pick up things that the others didn't catch. And also, if you want to take preventative measures instead of waiting until after being infected, you can always download FireFox to browse happier and healthier. ;)

tracking cookies are meh. I'm not getting screwed over by malware anymore, or seeing 1 million popups from IE anymore. I can deal with a few cookies, that can simply be removed by the delete cookie feature of FF

 *drangonsile have a good way to avoid tracking cookies in Firefox (don't know if it works in others, probly does). Set ff to ask to keep any cookie and only keep ones for sites I log into. I have quite a list for sites to deny cookies from.

 6 people either like spyware or are sad (liking it makes them sad anyway). I know you always get 1 but 6???

I voted yes natuarlly. I'm always riddles with all sort no matter what I use to try and prevent it :(
