if you know quite a bit of C++ already, ASP isn't far off. As ASP is basically C++ coding, but for the web  :D

ASP/ASP.NET is gorrible. Seriously every ASP powered site i've been to runs so slowly, i've yet to visit one that runs at a half-decent speed

AFAIK it's Microsoft's web language, correct?
It wouldn't surprise me <_<

Well for one, a lot of ASP powered sites are hosted on windows server, and as far as it goes, windows server aren't really good with hosting websites. They are less stable than linux so you will see a much more reduction in site speed.

@kingy

sorry, didn't notice that you had meant it in a sarcastic manner...after all, the majority of users here aren't exactly scripting saavy, let alone the capabilities and availability of certain features and programs out there.

woo I know java which is pretty much c++, so asp won't be hard. But the databases are what I'm scared of. Anyone know of a good tutorial site for ASP.NET all the ones I've found cost <_<.

I wanted to make a language that was easy, and acted like javascript.....but after doing research, I don't even wanna try to do something like that.
I hatenotepad makes me wanna cry, and hurts my eyes. more so on this stupid ass LCD screen [If someone has a 17 or 19 inch flat CRT screen I'll swap displays with ya...15 inch LCD.]

Nobody uses Microsoft's Front Page?

front page is cool cause you can like make the page you want in normal view and then in the different view it just gives you the codes ..

i mean for a beginner its pretty good but for some who knows the language you can just write it out in notepad or some thing ..

Ah that would be why then. Actually I have been to a fast ASP site, that must have been hosted on something other than a Windows server then.
Lol- that don't surprise me :arr:

I use Dreamweaver in it's code/design split view for html, css, php etc. But basically only using the code view part of it. (IE not really using the WYSIWYG aspect if it) I find that the syntax highlighting, code completion and various other things are great in dreameaver.

For Java i also use BlueJ, but thats only because my university sorta... umm... develops it :P so we sorta have to use it :D

I only program in Java and php, so thats about it (use to program in VB6, but that was again, because my school made us).

i like blueJ...its slow on some machienes, but its REALLY good for multi-class programs in java.

i hate vb.NET.....it makes me cry when they take teh easiest task(Multiple forms) in java and make it so freakin complicated.

what happened to

frmMain.hide
FrmMain.Show ????????

Id take java any day over Vb for a large project, much easier to use multiple classes, and to create your own methods

Quantum-locked when observed.

For some insane reason I've decided to start learning C++, so I downloaded Dev-C++ and it's really nice. Now I just need to wrap my head around this whole OOP concept and I'll be fine

I've tried learning Java but it didn't work out . . . probably because the IDE I was using wasn't that good. We'll see how my C++ experience goes, but I don't think I'll get around to learning it any time soon.

I use Game Maker and Blitz Basic. Sometime later this year, I'm planning to learn whatever language school's programming class teache, but for right now, GML and basic are enough for me.

Word.

I command you to turn off your computer and never touch it again. :'(

I use Eclipse for Java and PHP, Bluefish for HTML, Dreamweaver for HTML and PHP, Quanta+ for HTML and PHP. Mostly Eclipse and Quanta+, though.

Oh, and VB.NET.

I use Dreamweaver for HTML. EditPlus for PHP. Then Notepad for changes little things when I'm short on time and can't wait for the bigger programs to open.
