I don't think the full IPB admin CP is that much more complicated. Sure, it looks scary at first (*all teh buttons!*), but if you look closely, it's just the IF CP with a few more features.

I don't think IPB is all that hard. Just takes a little time to find everything.

It's actually pretty hilarious. We've had some people open tickets "OMG I WANT TEH IPB GIMMIE CONVERSION NOW NOW NOW" and then a few weeks later, they are asking to come BACK to InvisionFree, rofl!

It's usually because of the skinning system IPB has.

For me, IPB ACP isn't all that hard really, if you now how to use the IF ACP then you have a basic starter for using the IPB one. However it looks awful, the huge list is just ugly and not needed :/ It looks even worse if you click all the + buttons  :X

Tis why I like the ACP on IF so much: not so many buttons, easy to get around and you can't get lost

And jah, the skinning system is terrible imo >_<

Hmm, didn't think so many people would hate the IPB skinning system
I actually like it- a little confusing at first, but I love it now. It keeps it nice and organised into different sections for CSS and HTML templates, and each HTML template is broken into seperate bits to edit. I really like how they do the HTML templates from the Admin CP aswell, makes it really easy to edit ^_^

Heh. And yeah I agree that there's too many options, at least in IPB 2.0 they've made some effort of organising it a little more (although a lot of options are now hidden in 'View all general settings', which is terrible IMO).
But I suppose they can't help it, after all it is a powerful forum software.

Meh, if you think IPBs is bad, you should try vBulliten's... that's a nightmare...
Even more options than IPBs...

Isn't IPB down right now?

I've never tried it, (the fact that you have to pay) and by the way this thread is going, I think IPB might be confusing.

http://www.invisionboard.com/ and http://www.invisionpower.com seem fine to me

And if you want to try it out, to see what it's like, you can try the online demo here: http://www.invisionboard.com/?demo

Although it seems to be broken right now, maybe you'll have to wait until they reset it, it might fix the problem

Those guys can get triple the amount of users now if they made it copy- paste.
You can imagine how many time I gave up installing a IPB skin.
But it kept me close to IF.

Installing a skin on IPB is not difficult at all. Unless you're not forum or just computer saavy, then it might present as a challenge. All you had to do was upload it, click a few buttons then make it default and bam you're done.
