Erm...is that the Hindenburg?

Indeed, zepplins were filled with hydrogen gas when they came out.

It didn't help the hindenburg that hydrogen is a highly flammable gas. :ph34r:

 Good point, but I still think that if we could find an alternative as easy to get to as Hydrogyn, we'd be in pretty good shape.

Of course, there are plenty of risks in gas such as oil spills and those incidents where people are dumb enough to smike while they fill their tank and explode and such.

They need to go bye bye, along with all the roads and parking lots needed for them and the sprawl they lead to.

Well, you could try electric, biomass, water, and solar power.

Or if you wanna be just plain crazy, you could use beer, coal, foot power (a la flintstones), and humans.

There's quite a lot good sources of energy, it's just nobody want to make a car that uses them.

Magnetic Levitation mass transit and personal short-range hovercars/flying saucers/whatever you want to call them, sure.

Haven't read this book, but I've listened to an interview with the author and he seemed to have a pretty decent grasp on the problem, if not necessarily the solutions.
Though his next book supposedly makes a better offering on that front.

Ooh.. I just found a transcript of that interview online.
