Umm, no. They mix all that together to kill you mate, they don't use one to put you to sleep and then another to kill you.

That's why they call it a cocktail

Stupid word filter doesn't let you say cocktail

But the anestetics (sp?) take effect first and you fall asleep before the injection takes effect.

Are you just making this up as you go along?

Yea, those take effect pretty fast. Indeed, thats the stuff that kills you. It isn't there to make you all happy, thats for sure.

No I'm not making this up as I go along, I'm trying to explain my point to you. It only makes sense that they would put anesthetics in there to put you to sleep or it would be a waste. (For lack of a better term.)

I was refering to the justification of your point.

And no. Think of it like this- You can make a cocktail out of a boatload of asprin that will kill you, thin you blood down too much and then you'd die. Or use multiple agents as well as asprin to kill someone. Does that mean the asprin is in there for pain relief? Nope.

Anesthetics: Not always. Sometimes MAYBE.

Also, the gullitone/axe only takes one chop. Trust me on this.

about the, making you go to sleep, it is similar, this is how its done in texas

"For the lethal injection the condemned man (or woman) is strapped unto a gurney, with needles for injection in both arms. First some water with common salt shall clean the veins. When the inmate has spoken his last words, the executioner starts the machine and three different chemicals flow into the body: 1. a very high dose of the narcotic Sodium Thiopental, that makes the man fall into coma; 2. Pancuronium Bromide, a muscle-relaxant which causes the collapse of diaphragm and lungs; 3. Potassium Chloride to stop the heart beat. The whole process takes about 7 minutes and the cost of the drugs is $86 per execution."

Aspirin has more than one purpose, anesthetics are used to put someone to sleep, when used right that is.

And stamps explained it better than I did.

As for the axe, I know sometimes (I learned this in history class) they wouldn't use a sharper axe and make the person suffer by using a dull blade that won't go through the first time.

here is a list of everything in the lethal injection

The drugs are administered, in this order:

Anesthetic - Sodium thiopental, which has the trademark name Pentothal, puts the inmate into a deep sleep. This drug is a barbiturate that induces general anesthesia when administered intravenously. It can reach effective clinical concentrations in the brain within 30 seconds, according to an Amnesty International report. For surgical operations, patients are given a dose of 100 to 150 milligrams over a period of 10 to 15 seconds. For executions, as many as 5 grams (5,000 mg) of Pentothal may be administered. This in itself is a lethal dose. It's believed by some that after this anesthetic is delivered, the inmate doesn't feel anything.

Saline solution flushes the intravenous line.

Paralyzing agent- Pancuronium bromide, also known as Pavulon, is a muscle relaxant that is given in a dose that stops breathing by paralyzing the diaphragm and lungs. Conventionally, this drug takes effect in one to three minutes after being injected. In many states, this drug is given in doses of up to 100 milligrams, a much higher dose than is used in surgical operations -- usually 40 to 100 micrograms per one kilogram of body weight. Other chemicals that can be used as a paralyzing agent include tubocurarine chloride and succinylcholine chloride.

Saline solution flushes the intravenous line.

Toxic agent(not used by all states) - Potassium chloride is given at a lethal dose in order to interrupt the electrical signaling essential to heart functions. This induces cardiac arrest.
Within a minute or two after the last drug is administered, a physician or medical technician declares the inmate dead. The amount of time between when the prisoner leaves the holding cell and when he or she is declared dead may be just 30 minutes. Death usually occurs anywhere from five to 18 minutes after the execution order is given. After the execution, the body is placed in a body bag and taken to medical examiner, who may perform an autopsy. It is then either claimed by the inmate's family or interred by the state.

Thats pretty much how you die from lethal injection

Also, the gullitone/axe only takes one chop. Trust me on this.

Not always, it took seven chops to behead Mary Queen of Scotts. :r

Guillotine on the other hand is somewhat more reliable because of the speed but there have been instanes in history when it took several times. >_< But it's generally more reliable than an axe. o_O

I still say it's barbaric. :r
But I doubt it will stop really, lots of people are blood thirsty. :/

Although on a whole I'd say I disagree more with public executions than private ones. I think anyone who actually takes pleasure in watching someone die is rather sick in the mind, and probably a killer in the making. :ermm: Even if it was someone you loved, all that anger and rage making you enjoy watchig someone die, it can't be a positive thing.

i think that some people do deserve the death penalty but it should NOT be enforced, what if it was the wrong guy/girl?

Surely this debate is over?!

Imagine killing an innocent person?

Try reading the novel 1984, Jay. There's parts in there in this closed society that people watch people getting slaughtered on T.V. I'm only reading this because I have to in English class. >_<

Yeah I hate it. I'm not into the sci-fi fiction thing. It's pretty dull, to be honest, my entire class doesn't like it. The pages seem to drag on and on and on.
