they don't reply to every single topic they find on the support board. They might reply to a support question once or twice a day then retreat. A lot of people are giving support to every topic they see and that is good, but that just makes you predictable in your actions.

Posting a lot = still not a good way to earn staff position

If you noticed, a lot of the staff that was chosen didn't reach 1,000+ AFTER they got on. Now, you see a lot of 1,000 2,000 3,000+ posters who post at support almost everyday and well...

Surely most people don't want to become staff though do they? :/

I mean if your staff your expected to come and help people, get piles of stupid PM's e-mails etc and more. It can't all be good. Can it? :huh:

Far from it, actually.
It has its good points though, don't get me wrong.
But I'll be on here around my bedtime and wanting to leave, but no other staff are on, and people are posting and need help, and maybe some troublemakers are on or have been on, so I like to wait until another staff member comes on before leaving.
And I really don't like warning people and all that, despite what some might think, with the exception of a small few that I quite enjoy warning or suspending or humiliating or whatever because they deserve far worse than I could ever give them, but when you have to remove some sweet little girl's sig that she worked on for who knows how many hours because it's twice as big as it should be or something, that's just not fun.

A lot of members don't even really expect a promotion in gear. I remember when I got mod position at another place. All I did was answer 1 to 5 support questions max a day (with about an average of 60 support topics per day or so...) I would let the easier, almost constantly asked questions to be answered by others. I usually answered the more difficult one's which members truly needed support on.

With that, the admins caught on saying that I'm more than qualified to handle the extra responsibilities. That's how a lot of admins know when you're ready to be staff. Anyone who spent some descent time with Invisionfree can do fairly well in support. But, there are only a handful of which show that they have a keen knowledge of Invisionfree and only post when needed.

With it, it shows that you're responsible and mature enough to carry on with these duties and they feel that they can trust you with the extra priviledge. It's good and all if you're posting correct information at every support (or atleast many) questions you find, but really...it's quite obvious you're hoping to be in the staff?

 Resizing it would require a graphics programme of some form and we don't all have them. Well I don't at any rate so I'd need to do the same. :/

Thankfully I'm still in the 'fresh' stage, I'm not receiving too many PMs but I've dealt with a few topics over the past day or two. It's really not fun having to go through several topics and say 'Link removed - no advertising' over and over and over (especially with the same people) :ermm:

But to make up for that you've got the staff, truly a wonderful bunch of people. :) That evens the odds for me. That and my Uber Ebul Schtick O' Doom(tm). :wub:

I have the tools to resize sigs, etc., but I can't be spending 3 hours a day resizing and uploading/emailing images for everyone. :no:

indeed. reading some of jeremy and seth's notes are good. Zenith also has a couple good ones. ^_^
