Aww that browser is rotten. I downloaded that for a look see, the menus take up the screen. I use a res of 1680x1050, I'd hate to see Opera running on a 1024x768 res. Can you see the web page? I have to make a website that is viewable on most browsers for uni, I hate Opera :(. |

Explain number 1 because you are wrong. IE renders pages correctly and shows PNG images correctly. But, you have us beat at 4 and 5. |

Normal IE is a lot more insecure, it lets through more spyware and adware. I used to get dozens per day with it, now I get none with FF. The occassional slips through via e-mail but FF hasn't let me down and my software deals with it. IE was just a big waste of space, few advantages over FF. Some IE browsers like Avant though do have similar functions. Only thing I ever liked about IE was that IF could be seen and used easier but it really was just one big spam magnet even with security. >_< Could just be my natural lack of luck. |

Mozilla Firefox has less known security holes than Internet Explorer. This does not mean they aren't there, but currently they have not been found and exploited as Internet Explorer's have. And to boot, if a security flaw is found in firefox, it is usually fixed within hours, rather than days/weeks/months that it takes for IE to get security updates. IE does not render pages correctly. Fact. It may look like it is correct, because the developers have had to hack around to get it to display properly. However, thanks to IE's poor rendering engine, it does not render W3C valid code as it should do - whereas FireFox does a much better job at rendering valid code. IE also does not display PNG images correctly. Sure, normal PNG's are fine, but when it comes to alpha transparency, IE coughs and decides not to. Instead just putting a big grey background instead. FireFox displays PNG Alpha Transparency as it should do. |

"Not lacking pants" kind of monkey.

*MonkeyPants also points out that firefox does not have ActiveX controls which is one of the biggest problems in IE security. |

though i currently use fire fox i hope that after this browser war there will be 100s of standard complent browsers with equal shares so any security holes only affect small portions of people. |

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that IE's insecurity comes in part to the fact that it is so heavily embedded in the Windows OS . . . Mmmmm, PNG transparency. I've suffered enough because of IE's unfortunate deficiency in this area . . .
I would prefer a smaller number of browsers. I don't want to get rid of IE, it serves its purpose. I would be simply elated if IE 7 has full PNG support and standards compliant rendering. Having hundreds of browsers would be confusing . . . and we'd run out of names ![]()
