Ugh...humans taste like pork, so they say..do you run off eating them, SF? I hope not. :ermm: . I'm not saying it's ignorant to eat meat, but to believe that an entire races existence is centered around you. Does that make sense to you?

Can't tell if they ran on the range or around in a cage.
They are tasting a lot like Hot Mustard and Sweet & Sour sauce anyway.
Some things just best not known.

You can't taste the difference? Between an industrial bread and raised chicken and a healthy free range one? Then you might as well just put tofu in your sauce, that would taste like the sauce too >_<

Seriously, this is not about saying eating meat is bad. Eating meat is good and healthy, or at least it ought to be... I do think that we in the west are overindulging in meat, but that's a different discussion... :ermm:

Why should you care about how animals are treated before you eat them? Apart from the fact that they lead horrible an painful lives and is treated extremely cruel?
Because the food industri is bad for animals AND human beings alike!
The horrible production methods has given us stuff like BSE and salmonella - meaning our food can make us sick or even kill us. The overuse of anti-biotics is creating resistant bacteria that is only waiting to spread to humans, and we have no means of killing them. This is already happening.
The stressfull lives these animals lives also makes sure their flesh is filled with stress hormones... and then there's all the growth hormones they also get. This is not healthy and we don't fully know what eating this meat will do to us. We just keep on eating.
The quality and taste of this meat is also inferior to meat from animals wo have lived a good life, with no stress, good natural food, and only gets medicine if they are sick (which they aren't as often as animals in conventional industrial farms). And damn RIGHT you can taste the difference! It actually tastes like MEAT, like it's supposed to.

If all animals were treated this way meat would probably be more expensive and less abundant, but us in the west wouldn't be hurt by going without meat twice a weak. And then we'd eat some fine tasting meat that didn't make us sick.
And I'm sure the 3rd world countries would also appreciate not having cheap poor-quality meat dumped on them, destroying their own local production and putting people out of their jobs and livelyhoods.

If you love meat, you GOTTA protest to the insanity of the modern food industry! :arr:

Quoted in its entirety because it deserves to be.
With the exception of a handful of other posts, the rest of this topic makes me want to puke.
I guess this will be the topic of the week that saddens and disgusts me with humanity in general and this forum's membership in particular.
Evolve already, people.
Give it a try.
What have you got to lose?
For the most part, we're not desperately struggling to find food or keep from being food ourselves.
Top of the food chain.. got it.
Take a moment to enjoy the realization of that millenias-old goal, and move on.
Eating meat is natural, but do we have to enslave and brutalize billions of animals and entire species just because we can?
It's not good for us as individuals, as a society, or as a species, or even as a biosphere, in the grand scheme of things, and it sure as hell isn't good for the animals directly involved.
