If I'm an admin, how would I know that the new registrants are below thirteen (COPPA disabled)? There's an age field in the validation page, but i really don't understand it.. |

If someone chooses under 13 then they will require your validation. In the ACP on the main page there is an area that states people are awaiting validation if you use Admin/e-mail validation and a second one that tells you if there are COPPA validations awaiting your view. Anyone in the COPPA validation area is under 13. It's at the bottom of the main page and looks like this under System Overview: COPPA Requests from 'Users awaiting validation' total |

I did that a couple times. Won't say what site it was for, though!

They can forge their parents signature anyways... How's Duffman going to know what his 'rents signature looks like? They can easily sign it themselfs and send it in. |

That's fine from our standpoint >_< but you guys never understand when this topic comes up, if we have people under 13 on IF and we don't delete them, IF can get shut down. It's not because we want to make you suffer... we have to require it. |

I believe thats mandatory for any sites on the internet. Well, atleast for some that may have some objectionable content on their service (like forum hosting companies). |

Right, this as well as any forums/service have to ask for COPPA because any site which asks for information from a user, and that user is under 13 years old, that site could well be breaking the law. |

Actually, I think it's an American law only. I don't think COPPA is mandatory for UK based websites at least. Could be wrong but I thought COPPA was an American doodad.

Do not recommend violating any of IF's rules, especially on this board. |

Regardless, when using InvisionFree, you would have to ammend with not only U.S. laws but the laws of Maryland since this is based there (because I believe Duffman lives there ?) so if you're using InvisionFree but live outside the outside the U.S. you still have to bare in mind the laws here and follow them.

Let me see if i understand this.. If I have COPPA disabled, i just have to look under System Overview to check if there are new registrants awaiting for COPPA validation. But how does the system knows that they're under thirteen if they don't ask for bdays? Sorry, I'm really confused on this stuff.. But now my COPPA's enabled so as to avoid any problems with the law.. *sigh* That mail would have to take a long travel.. |

If COPPA is disabled, it won't be able to know how old registrants are. Only when it's enabled, because then it will prompt the registrant if his birthday is before or after certain date (13 years ago - to see if hes 13 or older) |
