What if someone under 13 registers a board? How exactly does IF figure out if they are actually below 13??..<_<

They can't know, but usually they slip up after a while and someone will report it.

Actually, I think it's an American law only. I don't think COPPA is mandatory for UK based websites at least. :ermm: Could be wrong but I thought COPPA was an American doodad.

is that law in australia?

Well, it's simple to find out if your birthday in your profile says "I am 12 years old," since, of course, that's obvious you're underage.

I'm not sure, you'd have to find that out for yourself as I have no clue about Australian websites and how to find out Australian laws. :/ But no matter where you are, as far as IF goes the law of COPPA applies to all due to IF being based in America.

Regardless, when using InvisionFree, you would have to ammend with not only U.S. laws but the laws of Maryland since this is based there (because I believe Duffman lives there ?) so if you're using InvisionFree but live outside the outside the U.S. you still have to bare in mind the laws here and follow them.

I know, I've said that before, my point was I think UK based sites (and probably other countries too) don't require it, it had nothing to do with IF boards or registering them rather Skitzo's statement in the previous post about all sites or services on the web needing to meet the requirement hence why I said UK based sites and not forums or even InvisionFree. ;)

If the person in question isn't stupid, we probably won't and that's a HUGE if. :r In general minors seem to be too silly to not slip up and end up revealing their age either on their forum or somewhere else, like in an MSN profile or something thus it gets reported and boom.

You know, I am not seeming to be spamming or telling you guy's what to do...but I been following the rules that you set here.

http://invisionfree.com/index.php?p=rules

It says in #13, that you have to be over 13 to CREATE a board...so yeah.

That's not what Kenshin Himura asked. :r

I don't think it's in the TOS as such, but it is in the Privacy Policy, and parts of the TOS allow for enforcement of it.
