What would you consider a successful board?

 at least 100 members, had at least 50 active users(not all members r active), interesting topics and mostly, a nice suitable skin. most people join forums because of the skin.well,that's my opinion

3 advertising posts for them in this topic alone, and one in this, despite our rules, because people have always looked the other way. :r
I'm tired of it, and so are some others.
Maybe the next person to do it gets suspended for a few weeks, huh?

edit: ohh, sorry, to make this relevent, a successful board is one with active members, good skin, and there should be a relevence to the skin as well. the admin mustn't be lazy. The admin must put the effort in, and most of all, not steal, or have another boards idea. - my opinion.

 I base it off of how good of an atmosphere the forum has. It can have 5 members, but if they are nice is whether it tempts me to join/post.

 hm, a board that has a good atmoshere and cool and funny members I guess... The theme and size of the board matters less to me that the 'feel', although I tend to avoid very big boards... ( yeah ok, so not this one I guess :r )

 I once was on this board with only 10 members, and it was the most enjoyable one I ever went to; all 10 members very active, and we arranged it so that every day for 20-30 minutes all of us could get a good roleplay in together. I have yet to find a board that equalled that one.

I don't think members that post in boards, don't enjoy a board. Obviously if the members are posting alot they must enjoy the board.

 They could just have nothing better to do.

Best community I ever ran had only 8 members.
I was a member at one with 20,000+ members and only a dozen or so actually enjoyed themselves there.
The rest came just to complain and be jerks or never posted.
