I wouldn't mind that, but only if he was like John Paul II. |

There are conflicting statements bout that... some say because the voting was so short that it is clear the the cardinals ethier want anothet John paul II or an anti Pope John Paul the second, to take the curch back to being traditional... |

Well Ratzinger was Jonh Paul II's right hand man, so he is going to be like him, I think. |

Twenty-six years actually. And that is one of the major reasons. |

I didn't like old JP, but I respected him. He was a brave, kind man, but not the best pope in my opinion--some of the decisions he made were absolutely stupid and maddening my views. However, he also benifitted the church in his own ways. He was a selfless, but misguided man... He fought gay and women's rights actively and passionately, and deemed it a mortal sin (meaning you will literally fry in hell if you commit it) to vote for John Kerry in the 2004 Americn election. We need a more liberal pope for a change, though I doubt it will happen soon, as the entire election council is white, conservative males. >_< |

Well said Prismatic!! I loved John Paul for who he was, but the position he took on Gays, birth control etc...Has cost thousands of lives! I'm a divorced Roman Catholic, and because of that, I'm never allowed to take communion again.....Or any other sacriment..... I had to marry my second wife in a protestant church because the R.C church refused to do it! Change is needed soon! |
