With the general elections in the U.K just a few weeks away, I thought it would be interesting to see the opinions of the I.F members..... I will be Voting Labour, AGAIN! Oven though I'm not impressed with Labours record over the past 5 years, they are still be best of a bad bunch! The Conservatives should NEVER be allowed to have power again. And the Lib Dems are basically a joke! :w00t: |

I don't know if any of you know this (especially the non-british on here!), but in England anybody can run for parliment. There are literally no rules with who can run for government. This has led to the "Monster Raving Loony Party" who just run for a joke. They know they don't stand a chance of winning, ever, so they have the best manifesto ever....here are a few of the highlights. (this is all true)
Superb...to say the least...the full manefesto (that was a small extract can be found here http://www.omrlp.com/ Incredible really, but thats democracy for ya! Kingy |

Good 'ole MRLP. I believe at some point, their Party Leader was a cat called Mr. Tibbles, but I'm not certain - it may just have been a rumour. Can anyone clarify? |

race/color/weather your irish, canadian, mexican, or what ever else DOESN'T mean you can't vote. Just voting age (18) does. Corrding to the 15th admentment of the US Constitution"all races get to vote" "Amendment XV (1870) Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation." foudn that above from a site I 'stumpled' abone via a FIRefox extension. My history Techer(s) made a song for us 8th grades to rember the admendments, 1st to the 19th, I think. tune was the 12 days of christmas, didn't do all 19. skipped some like the 9/10,11,12,16,17,18. i'm part irish, part american, and part candian, i'm 15 but only thing holding me bac is the voting age, have to wait 3 more years before I can (If I ever will). |

Can't vote, but I'd vote Lib Dem if I could. There was a Lib Dem guy on BBC Three the other day who said "[A Lib Dem government] would not go to war over disingenuous and dodgy dossiers.", which is just the best quote ever. My dad's running for MP of Exeter for the Greens though, Greens are good, although they're against cloning. But I don't really care that much. As long as BNP, or UKIP, or whatever Robert Kilroy-Silk's party is, don't win. |

I'll vote Labour - there isn't much of a choice when you look at who are standing against them I'm afraid. Now if we could take a bit of each parties manifesto, we'd be laughing.

Yes, we Americans are very poorly educated and are generally completely ignorant of anything happening outside our borders, unless it's us killing a bunch of people somewhere, and then we only know what our corporate media tells us, so if there's a good site that explains what the various parties are all about this year and whatnot, a link might be helpful. Not that it really matters, as I'm sure this topic was directed at those who can actually vote, but it's always nice to know what people are talking about. |
