Gameboy was really all there was until the PSP.

Not the case, there where many other handhelds other than the gameboy:

The PSP has revolutionized handhelds.

read the link to the article again:

Many of the things that the psp has was pretty much done by another handheld.

Hell, even the ds's two screens aren't anything new, they were done by nintendo OWN game and watch handheld years ago.

Now we all realize that Nintendo is not doing their job in producing a quality product.

The personal accounts I read tell me otherwise, that whole "missing pixel" situation that happened a few months ago, the wrongly placed square button with kutaragi's stupid comments tacked on, it seems to be the other way around.

Nintendo will try to stick around, but will lose tons of money doing that. They should give up now and keep what they have made before it all goes down the drain.

The profits they're reporting, and from what I hear from investors tell me a diffterent story:
http://www.japantoday.com/e/?content=news&cat=4&id=338474

All in all the I consider the PSP the WORST handheld to date, my reasons are simple:

development - making games for the psp is hard from what I hear. If it's hard to develop for, developers will move to something else, if there are no developers around to make games there are no games.

The lack of games at this years e3 proves this is true.

umd - there is a lack of them, but most of the consumers want tv shows instead of movies on the psp.

I do not see any currently planned for release.

Production - sony's saying that they can't make enough psps for their release in europe, so they're outsourcing production!

Sony is a much larger company than nintendo and they can't make enough? What The HELL?

In short nintendo is DOOMED LOL!

Nintendo needs to improve its marketing. Nintendo has the experience, the history, and the product. It just needs to market it better.

I haven't bought a game system since my N64. It still works, and I still play it every now and then.

Likely the 360 will be more popular because it will be out much sooner than the PS3.

But the consumer has always relied on the Playstation series. For that reason I do not know. :/

Errrm, Arent Game Consoles about the GAMES and what GAMES you are going to play on them??

Thats what Nintendo believe and I agree with them, Dont need all the flashy stuff to make the console better. I mean come on Nintendo have their All Star Team (Hit games such as SSBM and LOZ) and Sony have their Hits (GTA etc)

I dont care whether it has a DVD player or is capable of burning CDs (or Whatever) as long as it plays the Game... what was Nintendo GameCubes Europe slogan.... thats it....

LIFES A GAME!

Its all down to preference so lets leave it at that. Go for the Flash Crap that will cost you More or go for the Gaming Experience, Your Choice.

i agree, a gaming console should be about games. and nitendo is based on that the most. but sadly they think they can handle it all on their own, and they treat 3th parties like mullet, no wonder they leave.
and nintendo, most people don't "just know" about you, you need to go out and spread the word, get some marketing.

if only they'd keep an eye on the 1 things said above, that would do them much better.

but one thing nintendo does, is keep their OWN games. nintendo has legend of zelda, super smash brothers, metroid and all that. no way that those games can be released on PS2 or XBOX. but one of the best selling games for PS2...yes, is getting released on XBox and PC as well. :/ .
