When it comes to the ads though, it's more a deal of the reasons behind it. You mentioned the search in the other topic open. Yes, it would be good sometimes on the SZ, but it would have been nice to know exactly what the extra funds were needed for / are going to be used for.

Besides you aren't paying for the feature what do you care exactly wheere they go aslong as they go somewhere that helps.

 Das Ein, you are right that I am not paying for any sort of feature, least of all Ad-Removal (because it would cost literally thousands of dollars for the IFSZ), but I do semi-care about the positioning of the ads because it is a change. Psychologists would tell you that Human Nature is to deny change and fight it. This could be applied in this scenario. I'm sure I'll get used to the new positioning as will everyone else, but I felt it my right and duty to voice my opinion and the opinion of the many users who created topics at the SZ moments after the change.

 I have no problems with the Ads so far.
I am happy to hear that you're thinking of removing the Banner Ads. Those will become a major nuissance in the future especially with the new ad location in topics. Their characteristics resemble very much the images shown in the link Seth posted to another forum host's support board and in the end, could be the biggest problem this new set-up will face (in the eyes of IF's users).

I haven't hit the ads in the topics yet and that includes not just today but the past week that they've been on these boards.

Just my 2 cents on this.

I will agree with those psychologists in an instant. Wait a few weeks and if we tried to move the ads back to the top on topics people would complain. That is precisely why I am asking for anyone who complain to explain why they do not like it. I just wish that people would consider that it is a change, but they will get used to it soon enough and may find it actually is better than before.
