 That's right, it has been reported that ten seperate investors are planning to build a slot-machine centered casino only a mile and a half of away from the battleground of Gettysburg!

For those of you who don't live in America and may not know this, Gettysburg is one of the most famousbattlegrounds in American history, as it is the site of a horrendous battle between the American Union and southern Confederacy of the Civil War of 1861-1865. Gettysburg marked the turning point in the war, as it was a major northern victory, and allowed the Union to gain the upper hand in the Civil War. Gettysburg is also the place where President Licoln gave his ever-famous Gettysburg adress, widely known as one of the greatest speeches in all of history, commending the soldiers that died on the battlefield.

I for one am disgusted that anyone would even consider building such a tasteless enterprise next to such a sacred and memorable ground--such an act makes a mockery of those who died fighting for their country and what they believe in.

Gettysburg is already a very large tourist spot, for obvious reasons, and those building the casino, which has also been called a luxury spa and resort, hope to attract a lot of customers at such a famous site. This is ridiculous to me; Gettysburg needs to be remembered for the battle tha took placed there, and the brave soldiers who gave their lives defending their ideals, not some stupid ritzy hotel that will be constructed to make a quick buck.

Besides the casino itself ruining the landscape, it will open up a huge gateway for every other corporation on Earth to do construction--it would only take amatter of years before houses, roads, and other buildings reached right up to thesite of the battle, andthe graves of the soldiers.

I beg of you, please help fightto stop this atrocity: go to GoPetition.com, a website that is starting a petition to stop this terrible act, and sign! It's for the good of thecountry and our sacred American landmark. Please, I beg of you...help keep Gettysburg as it is!

 Sorry to be blunt, but get over it.
1-Gettesburg happened a long time ago.
2-It wasn't that important, I am sure there are casinos near Pearl Harbor.
3-You can't perserve the past forever. Things happen move one.
4-Think about all the buisnes the casino would get from it being there. It was a smart move by the casino owners,
5-No court is gonna care about some online petition.

Peral Harbor was like 9/11 in the 1940s tell WW2 vets Peral Harbor was not importent. GettysBurge is one of the most importent battles of the civil war it was the battle that determed who would win the war. inorder to save our further we must learn from the past by bulding the coincle so close were wreaking the past and on the past to forget it. Its like putting your hand on a hot stove you dont do it aghen because you have larned from past exparnce thats the olny way we can go on is by rembering the mistakes of the past, History repeats its self if we firget our past were doomed. What happends if we forget what evils Hilter did were doom to let another guy do it aghen.

O because one of if not the biggest loss of american life on american soil ins't important.

Last time I checked all the states were getting along fine. This isn't bound to happen again.
If we keep holding onto our past soon everything will be wrong to do. If your burn your hand on the stove you won't do it again.
This dosn't mean that other's wont do it, nor will you spend the rest of your life obssed with stoves.

I am sure many people have forgoten about hitler. Besides we move on.
We have built worse things around areas of importatnce during WWII.

Gettysburg was the turning point in the flippin' American Civil War, my friend. If the north had not won that battle, it is very possible that the south may have prevailed, and America could have continued the practice of slavery for a long time to come.
3-You can't perserve the past forever. Things happen move one.
But you can, and should preserve it, and keep it sacred. History repeats itself. We need to remember the Civil War so that it doesn't happen again.

Never said that. You can't keep dweling on the past forever.
Eventually you will have to let things go. If a parent dies you mourn.
Eventully thought you just have to let it go, and move on. You aren't gonna protect all of there things forever.

What the?! Your saying that the lives lost in battle for freedom is not importent!? thats just makes me sick :X . Fine go to a 3rd world country where you have no rights and then you will learn to apperchate the people who gave there lives so we can have what we have today. And yes one day who knows when sates of the US or another country will fight over each other I did just not limited it to the US.

I have not once said it wasn't important. I think it is, but we need to move on.
If we worried about everything that happened we would never live our lifes. Last time I checked the worlds population is going up, not down.
We need room for things. Would you rather have eco-systems destroyed or a casino ten miles away from an important event?

 Why would both of you need to argue over this topic? people have their own opinions. Personally i think its up to the people who really want to do such a thing. And signing an online petition which in all it wouldnt make any difference to sign it or not becuase it wont do anything in the end.

I'm not with Das or Stormrtrooper9 on this subject. and i also dont care who is offended by my ridiculous post.
Also if people are going to get angry at my post all i have to say is make a mod delete it
