Firefox is obviously not 10mb.. :)

I too stated an older version of FireFox, but still Opera has more features then FireFox and is faster but the program size is still smaller. In my opinion Opera is the best browser to date.

In my opinion

And there are those 3 magic words :)

Arguing doesn't achieve much nowadays, seeing as people are so stubborn.

Yep, I can't say it's the best browser because that will create an ever bigger arguement and people all have different ideas. ^_^

IE also allows you to turn off ActiveX. I don't see how an easy to find option on the menu would make a browser more secure.

Thank you for your point. ;)
Yes, I also don't see how having ActiveX disabled could make Firefox safer at any point.
So, why do people use Firefox then? :/

A blast from the past.

Errr Look Opera 7 has Java installed where Opera 8 does not thus the incerssed file size at one point in time you may need to install Java so Opera is will be that size or bigger anyways. ;)

The Gecko rendering engine that Firefox uses still supports more advanced web coding than the Opera engine, but Opera does support more advanced coding than IE/avant/maxthon.

As for the file sizes for these browsers, lets look at it at a different point of view. IPB is a slightly larger file size than phpBB. Does that mean you'll chose phpBB over IPB? Extra features and capabilities will obviously increase these file sizes. Less does not always equal the better browser. Speed isn't everything.

IE has other security holes that are not related to ActiveX. Just disabling ActiveX isn't going to make you immune to hackers, viruses, spyware, etc.

In Opera 7 Java wasn't installed when you downloaded it from the Opera.com website, they might have added it into the download optionally.

Opera's rendering engine is perfect, its way better than Internet Explorers and compared to FireFox's it's about the same, it renders any image about just as good at FireFox's, you can also choose different rendering methods for Opera.

If you even try Avant, you'll see that it has even more features than Firefox at a lower size. It has tabbed browsing, related pages toolbar, XML feeds, completely draggable toolbars, faster loading, higher compatibility with software, displays pages correctly (I haven't seen one page that doesn't work even slightly correctly with Avant), higher compatibility with sites ( for example, http://zone.msn.com/ ), less ram use, built-in ad&popup blocker, and since Avant is led by people other than Microsoft, Avant Force themselves may be able to patch up security holes to Avant that exist with IE to be even safer than IE. Don't say it isn't possible, but Avant is safer than IE. ;)

Sirin, your argument is totally flawed. Avant requires the user to have Internet Explorer to be installed, thus the file size is larger than what the actual download is. Avant is merely a shell for Internet Explorer.

Opera has all of those features and many more, yet the program size is still small. ;)
