Who here still uses MPEG-3 Players to play their music? I used to have an MP3 player, and when I got it, it played with an almost identical quality to CDA (Compact Disc Audio), but it was a little jaggy. As the years passed, I've had to buy new MP3 players again and again. I've had it. So I've moved on. No more problems for me! B) Anyone here still use the nearly-extinct format? |

Umm, i still use it. All my music on my computer is mp3 from ripping cd's. There never seemed any reason to switch to a different format when the majority of it is already in one format. |

MP3 aint nearly extinct because MANY people still use it. it would be nearly extinct if only a few would be still using it. anyway, i don't have any MP4 on my PC. i usually listen to inernet radio anyway and i've lost my MP3 player. and i aint gonna buy a new one 'cause when i'm on the road i have my DS and soon PSP to play games. anything i should know about AAC before i download the crap? |

That's because most of them believe that's the only newest thing out there. Most of the general public believe that there is no other thing out there besides MP3, CDs, and Tapes that are current.

AAC is by far, the world's newest, greatest, and most Hard Drive-friendly format. Some devices that support AAC: ----------------------------------------- - Samsung SGH-i300 musicphone - Samsung Series 60 smartphone - Sendo X2 - Neuros 3 PocketPlayer - LG M4300 musicphone - Sony Ericsson Z800i - Most new Motorola musicphones seem to have it too. On AACs, the high quality point starts at 128kbps, while on MP3s: 160kbbs. This means you save over 32 Kilobytes per SECOND. That's a whole savings of 1,896kb (1 Mb, 872Kb) p/min that you get with AAC compared to MP3. I'm getting an iPod soon...

It's not just Microsoft that uses WMAs. Many, many recording companies burn their client's songs as .wma format. While AAC is building, average-knowledge (computer-based, that is) users still use MP3. I do with my computer, because that's the file format produced with most songs. That or wma... |

This sounds like an argument you started with Avant. Then when everybody will disagree with you again, you'll go back to say, "No, I was promoting AAC just so people will like MP3's better". :rolleyes: |

Everyone uses MP3, and I do. It's the main format of music extensions, apart from .wav and .wmv (Does anyone even still use MP4's?) MP4 = Music Video. |

Like, MP3 is so last week. I use MP3 too. I started converting some of them into WMA, because I find there's not so much loss of quality when you compress them.
Lol! "Exepert listeners"  So if you can tell the different your obviously not an expert

still play MP3 even thouigh we dont' use the MP3 player we bought. I listen to music all day (video game music mostly); some is Midi's other is MP3. with a few wav files. is very nice. |

That is incorrect. kbps is kilobits per second. If it were bytes, a 5 minute high quality mp3 would be about 10MB. MP3 is not lossless compression, some data is altered or lost. An MP3 will sound different than the original recording. |
