There are how many galazies in our universe, and in those, countless planets. The odds are pretty good they're extraterrestrial life. |

though endless planets may or may not be true. we dont' know if the unvierse is 'closed' or 'open'. Closed - sounds just like it, it is finite and do NOT last forever and ever,. open - opposite of closed, this kind if infinite, it could have a infinte number planets, stars, suns, black holes, and other things. even if we do find ET's in the future; let's hope they are peaceful and not like those in 'signs' (I HATED that movie). and they are more friendly, and will help us futher. |

I don't buy the whole "can't exceed the speed of light" thing. The fact that some people have worked out formulas which seem to prohibit it doesn't mean much to me, considering our limited understanding and perception of reality. Common sense, instinct, and evidence lead me to believe it's possible. Plus, I've done it. |

it is theorectically possible to exceed the speed of light if a shuttle goes at the same speed as light, when you are in space at that speed for a full year, you have acctually gone through seven years |

More than 1 of us in these multi-verses. All we could be is part of a piece of fluff on someones jumper, and then what are the possibilites. Theres no point trying to comprehend it!! |

Er . . . solar system, galaxy, universe ![]() The difficulty with travelling faster than the speed of light is that you would have infinite mass (and hence require infinite energy to accelerate). The loophole is therefore that you can travel the speed of light, provided that you never accelerate to it--you in effect have to start out travelling at light speed. Such particles are called luxons and include photons and neutrinos. And of course there's me . . . er . . . tachyons, particles that go only faster than light. They need imaginary mass to do that however. ![]() The largest loophole we've thought of so far is that nice little anomaly called the 'wormhole'. It is an interstellar shortcut, allowing us to travel great distances in a matter of seconds or minutes. Unfortunately, we haven't found any stable, practical wormholes nearby, and in order to construct one that will remain stable for space travel, it would take a lot more energy and technology than we have. As far as we know though, it is possible, so if a civilization had access to an energy source more advanced than ours, and had additional technology to maintain the wormhole (you'd need some antimatter . . . negative energy, nice stuff like that) then it is possible they found a way to utilize wormholes for interstellar travel. |

i've read that there may actually be wormholes on Earth right now, but they are far to small (about the size of a nanometer (billiointh of a meter) (can work on atomic, sub atomic, sub sub atmoic (and smaller) and molcecular levels), and they may only last as long as neutrions and anti-matter did after the big band happended. |

If nothing else, there are certainly alien bugs, germs and whatnot out there but I wouldn't be suprised if there was at least one race out there that was similar to us...but different. I mean another advanced race.

err, who's talking then?
