Death. All your conservatives are fools. She is in a 'veggie' state. The cortex of her brain is dead. It is literally useless to keep her alive; the family members are just making trouble to themselves. Call me evil or not, but it is true.

I do not consider it true.

Kind of sad that all ya'll Repubs have made the US in a state that you should make a will saying if the tube should be pulled or not?  :r  :r  :eh:

And bush is even more of a fool. He has nothing to do in his life except go after stupid foolish things like this. He is the president for god's sake. Like logik said, US gov. should BACK OFF.

Bush is worrying about stupid things like this;  :r no wonder our debt is 7,000,000,000,000+$.

I totally agree w/ TigerDiamond.

The President hasn't done anything in this case. The most he did was state his opinion. If you want to yell at someone it's Congress. They are the one's passing or not passing bills to do this or that. This has nothing absolutly nothing to do with why the country is in debt. Oh and by the way the debt didn't go just to 7 Trillion dollars as soon as Bush stepped in. We've been in debt since the Revolutionary War. Anyway this is for another topic.

Consrvatives didn't just want her to live. You can't stereo type one party with the belief that she should live.

Plain and simple eh?

If it is so "plain and simple" to go along to your side, I find it odd that the civil courts have ruled against the mother and father, the appeals court has ruled against the mother and father, and the US Supreme court has ruled not to accept the case on appeal.

Even when congress tried to break free of it's powers, the laws it has created where deem unconstitutional.

Silly me, I'd say that her right to die was plain and simple, and it would seem the US Court would agree with me on that one.

And her right to live? Does that not exist? Can one assume that she would want to die just because of his word?

Meh, I'm not the most trusting of persons so it may be that my judgement is blocked but considering the circumstances I'm inclinded to believe the parents over the husband. I know nobody knew me better than my mother did, no matter how long I spend my life with Richard, he'll never know me to the extent she did because of our maternal bond (not that this bond is solely what makes me think this but the bon + our close relationship is what gives me this opinion) and I think the same for any human being who grew up with (a) loving parent/s. And especially since the facts seem to weigh against him; new life, money from Terri's court case, etc (refer to Kell's post for other little facts) and not to mention doctors are protesting that her condition wasn't as bad as it was diagnosed.

I've honestly yet to see a single thing that would possibly make me believe she wished to die but oh well, who cares, she's just another insignificant number who's rights are of no importance, correct? What does it matter, she's a vegetable, lets just rid of her and do the same with all who follow, hey maybe next we can burn all blacks and gays and return to the days when women had no rights.

And if my point isn't clear enough: her rights were completely denied throughout, I find it disturbing but I actually agree with Bush's words regarding leaning towards life in such a situation, especially when the decision cannot be made by her. *shrugs* I guess I just find the thought of a court deciding on whether or not a woman lives or dies. I'm against it for criminals so I'm certainly not going to back it when it happens to civilian.

It seems to be a healthy debate, no slandering or fighting just normal debating. Your arm isn't being twisted to post, if you don't agree with the topic or feel it is useless then all you have to do is not post, you know, let it die. No reason for it to be locked yet. :)

Dont get me wrong poeple have the right to die and I think of a few ways to practive it but since I dont encurge that then I wont post it ;) But like I said earyer Its one persions word aghents the others. We have no proof that she wanted life or death. Oh and shes now Mentaly handycaped When Nazi doctors in WW2 killed the mentalyed handycappend at the end they were ment with the gallows, what makes it right today? THis case can also be claffised as a case of Eugentics (the pratices of killing the mentaly handycaped/retarded/impaired Whice was one of the things Hilter did duining the Holocost.

Felos also said Terri Schiavo told her best friend, brother-in-law and uncle that she would never want to be kept alive in this type of scenario.

"This is about Terri Schiavo..."

1) People ignorant of medical science have no business making such decisions.
2) She informed people she didn't want to be kept alive in a situation like this.

Those that want to keep her alive are being foolish and cruel.

That said, I never said that letting her die by starvation/dehydration was acceptable either.
Obviously, the doctors should give her something to allow her to die as painlessly and peacefully as possible.
Wow, that was too many p's, but I'm tired.

Trust me when I state this I am no expert and I will not push people to agree with my opinion because it's my own thought. Oesronally I believing that schiavo is best off dead. If I were in her shoes I know I wouldn't want to live, unable to move, speak or do anything. The only things I find to be in question is her husbands motive behind allowing her to die... Bcause what I see is a selfish motive...

I ask that people not really retaliate against me for my thought on the matter. In issues such as these I'm not an exceptional debater, by any means... nor doI like to start them if possible...

And as a fellow member here pointed out, when it comes to politics. Only congress, and Jeb Bush have been directly involved in the issue, G W Bush hasn't gotten himself directly involved if he is at all...

Ya can't hate people for voting for who they think qualified for the job of president... Besides this has nothing to do with the election so I ask you kindly to avoid the arguement here since the topic is about Terry Schiavo, NOT ABOUT George Bush...

And as far as I'm concernbed this topic has nothing to do with Bush now does it? I could care less about Bush's policies in this topic, if you want to talk about how bad a president BUsh is... make a topic for it... I voted for him, and if you want to argue with me do it in another topic.... The original purpose of this was to discuss t=Terry Schiavo's condition...

NOT ABOUT George Bush...

Indeed, its shapeing up to be about Jeb Bush, who tried to find a way around the judical branch (nasty little thing when you are trying to get your will done) and had yet another case rejected, even after stateing:
"...Our system of government has committed these decisions to the judicial branch, and we must respect that process." He went on to add: "No one involved should be permitted to circumvent due process or the Court’s authority in order to achieve personal objectives in this case."

Sure, if thats what you want.

But if you want to play hypotiticals here, lets say that the state legislatation of Florida passes another law keeping her alive (the previous one was struck down by the courts). What does that say? You talk of women's rights, and the right of the minorities, but that would spell even more trouble than this, this being going along with the US Courts desicion.

Now, look at it from this angle. The Judical Branch, which has little riding on this except for justice, agrees with the law and the husband's right as legal guardian to express her wishes.
The ones fighting for her right to live are the ones who have an election coming up for this, and, unless I am mistaken, would have used this card many times in that election. Whos intrests are being played here?

I've stated ths before, but this is definatly food for thought:
"Imagine if you where put into this situation. If your wife and yourself had sat down and talked about this, you two had decided what you want to have done. Your wife is put in a coma for many years, and you decide that, pursuitent to her wishes, you'd 'pull the plug'. You've exhusated any other chances that there where, and so you go on wife your wife's wishes.

And then the state steps in and tells you you cannot do that."

Put yourself in the situation...

If it where a case that the doctors of that health care center where trying to kill every single handicapped person just because they where handicapped, you might have a point.

Some more good for thought:

ACLU

[the ruling] prevents politicians from interfering with intensely personal medical decisions...... the court had ruled otherwise, the nation may have taken a giant step backward in the protection of privacy and made it harder for families to make these difficult but intensely personal end-of-life decisions without the intrusion of politicians."
