That's poor design. I don't think it's a bug though and BB codes work too... I thought your problem with BB codes was that it appears at the end of text? But as far as functioning if you press teh buttons they work (just at the end of the text)Stealing form fields from another tab is what I consider a bug, since it could give protected information to someone else. |

1. I like how it goes to the last tab in the order, not the last used tab. I agree it should be a feature option, but there is an extention available that allows it to work your way. Also, PhranK, you have to admit that it does work "properly," as that is how they intended it to work, it just doesn't work in the way that you (and I admit, many others probably) see fit. 2. When I click a BB code button, it opens the BB code tag at the end my message, as it used to do in IE. If I click it again, it closes the tag at the end of the message. |

Um.. if it worked properly, it would put an opening tag at the beginning of a highlighted selection, and a closing one at the end. Oh, and I'm safe from the dreaded "I don't pay attention to wtf I'm doing" vulnerability!!1 Wo0t!

Totally not what happens for me. On IE I like the ability to highlight my text and the press the BBCode button. I do it all the time. Firefox can't do that. |

Ah, when text is highlighted. I guess that is a Firefox problem. I started using Firefox around the same time I started using IF (IIRC), and I remember at the forum service I used before that, when I highlighted it, and clicked the BB code button, it would add it around the text. I just assumed it was IF, not Firefox. Okay, I admit that is a bug, but it's not really a reason not to use an otherwise very good browser. I seem to remember it doing this in IE too... Must have been on a VB forum I visit as well. |

Combine that with the smileys always going at the end of the post, regardless of where you try to put them, and the text cursor rarely wanting to go where you put it, at least at the beginning and end of lines, especially those scrolled 2 miles off to the right of the text box, and randomly selecting entire lines of text that you didn't select, while not selecting the ones you did try to, and.. hmm... what else, just off the top of my head.. oh, the lack of skinned scrollbars always annoys me, because I'm an artist, and the standard scrollbar goes with nobody's skin, not even this forum's, much less a nice, dark one, and the lack of certain filters.. but those are getting into things that aren't truly Firefox's fault, but nevertheless, are reasons to not use it, at least sometimes. I'm sure I could come up with a dozen or more others, but I think I've made my point. By all means, everyone should use the one they like, even if it does have absurd and irrational tab properties, but there's no reason to diss on users of other browsers or assume they're practicing bad security. I also agree with.. um.. whoever said it.. that Firefox will get less secure as more and more people use it. But I can't see it ever coming anywhere near IE in that regard, as everything Micro$oft, from all their software to their mouse, is, at its core, poorly made crap, and they don't care. Oh yeah, somebody claimed the smileys thing was an IPB problem, not a Firefox one, which might be true, I have no idea, but I don't really care who's fault it is.. it's still a reason to use IE until it's fixed. http://support.invisionfree.com/index.php?...dpost&p=2913188

That does get a little annoying I'll have to agree with you on that.
You may be an artist, but not many other people are. I hate sites that make every part of the scrollbar the same color. It makes scrolling somewhat difficult without a mouse wheel. I'd prefer not to have my scrollbar styled.
IE's users are slowly droping and Firefox users are slowly increasing. Microsoft does seem to care as they are creating IE7 which will be more secure and come with a spyware blocker, so I've heard. IE7 was also originally going to be released with Longhorn, but now they have plans to make it compatible with XP which is rumored to be due to the lose of IE users to other browsers.
Lack of transparent PNG images, lack of a rendering engine that properly renders valid code, and lack of CSS2 are reasons to use Firefox. |

No, you didn't. anyway. Firefox will get less secure as more people use it. W00t! He agrees with meh! Minirant: Not true. I mean, what does the number of people using a browser make it less secure? |

That has nothing to do with scrollbar skinability. That's poor design. Making the scrollbar all one color is stupid. It should blend in with the page design, yet have enough contrast and distinction to be equally as functional, if not moreso, than the default one. If it isn't, whoever made it has failed.
99% of the time, I couldn't care less about those things, and neither do most people. There are times I do care though, but there are plenty of other reasons to use Firefox. I never said there weren't, I'm just annoyed by the Firefox cult acting like it's all that and a bag of chips when it's not. It still sucks, just in different ways than IE.
It has a lot to do with it. Just as the number of people using an OS has a lot to do with how secure it is. I have no doubt that Apple does a better job programming its OS to be more secure, but probably the biggest factor that makes Windows less secure is that it's the most popular OS, by orders of magnitude, so hackers and spyware makers have little to no incentive to even bother with writing code for other OS's. It's a waste of time. If you want to rob a gas station, you rob the big one near the freeway, just after rush hour, when the attendants have $1,200 in cash on them they haven't had a chance to deposit because it's been so busy.. you don't rob the little station with one pump, out in the middle of nowhere, that's sold $20 worth of gas in the last 3 days. If OS 10 or Linux or anything else ever becomes even anywhere near as popular as Windows, I guarantee you there will be similar problems with viruses and whatnot for them. Same for Firefox. The whole open source thing does help though. |

I do use IE sometimes for FTP uploading files to my website, that's one thing that it is very good at. When I try it with FF it doesn't work at all. I only use FF for browsing websites. |

I've used all of those, Firefox is by far and away the best of the lot. I haven't found the perfect browser yet. I don't think it exists |

That would be me. ![]() You can test it here if you'd like. And I agree with the fact that you shouldn't force a browser on anyone. Although the whole Firefox hype might be going a bit too far, it has put pressure on IE, who will (hopefully) be making some large improvements. |
