Very well put, Jay, and I agree wholeheartedly. I for one can say that I have really appreciated the kindness of people who have helped me here, be it for graphics or for general support for my forum. I have had members reply, staff members and volunteers, and they have all been very kind and helpful, and this has NEVER gone unnoticed or unappreciated by myself. ![]() |

I've answered more than 3 topics on occasion and I wouldn't call it sucking up. Has alot to do with the time I'm on cus I notice that afternoons and evenings US EST time this place is packed but the early morning hours are very empty so there were days I could go away for an hour and come back with a bunch of unanswered topics so I prefer answering them if I know the answer instead of answering only 2 or 3 so "I don't look like a suck up". If you like helping and if you can help and if there's noone else on to help, why not help? Enough "help"?There's actually alot of people on here who probably post cus they like to help others and I must admit, getting a "thank you man. You're the best" is quite good for one's ego and/or self-confidence. Maybe some of these "bad support volunteers" also like to help but, unfortunately, they have no idea what they're doing.

The reason I have people calling themselves support volunteers is found on my blog. It pretty much sums up what one is in my eyes and why I despise them and the term. |

oh yeah...i forgot about pauls thanks / your welcome posts hehe. and now that i look back he did seem to want a staff jo a little much. oh well he was pretty good at help from what i saw. but i sorta trailed off at the end of his days. if my observations were that far astray from real then i shall strike any comments i have made from the conversation. hehe. [edit] yeah....with the burning down muh houseness....pwaese dont. I blame paul...and god. or atleast that guy who REFUSES to give me a deal at Dominoes! >.< [/edit] |

That Wikipedia Entry pretty much summed up what it is to be a support volunteer. As well as what we all dislike about it. I can see how the "volunteer" label with bother the staff, since they themselves are I despise the support volunteers cause they clog up the support forums. Which is why I'm never over there anymore. Too scary. All of this just to become "known" or "liked" or "popular" even. Since, they eventually just want to be staff of a large forum. Just my .02$ |

Well, time to establish anti anti support volunteers and pro nous volunteer campaign. IMHO Anti and Support volunteers are the same silly people. ;-) Regards. |

the anti anti will be supporting the Support vonunteers since two negitives make a postive so your saying "Pro Support Volunteer" something the staff does not like from what I read/ :/ Anti is just saying that we are also annoyed at there titles and most of them being n00bs and doing some things that normale members would not do. |

How a "pro nous volunteer campaign" can support quasi IF support volunteers if the whole issue is about they are lacking aforementioned nous? So, generally, let's all support the Anti-BandwagonsFundation (I am calling it fundation, since it is giving a profit for our mental health and clear mind), and pro having your own opinion. Enjoy! ![]() Regards. |

OK. It looks like these Support Volunteers are widely disliked due to "stupidity" and "desire to become an admin" etc. I, for one, have helped a few people out in the General Support forum. I have not gone crazy with it, (as you should see in my post count) but I do wish for people's opinions. Am I considered one of those annoying, unhelpful Support Volunteers? If so, I would gladly stay away from the General Support forum FOREVER. :/ Please enlighten me on this. Thank you. |

If I may put in my opinion... I think that it is great that people are willing to help other people in need. I think that it is really great knowing there are people out there that can be kind and help someone... Ok moving on... What drives me crazy, is when you look in a thread where a member is asking for help, and a person comes in A) Calls them a name because it is something simple and they just don't know it so they call them stupid or idiot or something like that... B) when you give them the wrong information... and/OR C) when people rush in there the second it has been posted and have 3 or 4 people posting the same answer, even when people know the correct information was all ready given... That is what really irritates me on a "Support Volunteer" |

Personally I would say if you think you're giving good support don't label yourself, show you're unique and not willing to join such a fad. How likely are people who state Support Volunteer likely to become staff? I know I certainly wouldn't be considering a 'Moderator Volunteer' for the next staff position.

Plenty of people have been rewarded for giving support, Matt for one was an awesome member at giving support. Lothy too, Ryan also I hear was a support-a-holic. I'm guessing all (or most?) of the support staff ended up on the team because of their ability to give good support? I'm sure bribary fits in somewhere too.
