Exactly, this hits the nail on the head for me, I think I know how it works, start a forum, get 4 members, come to IFree and your a 'Support Volunteer' If you don't believe me look at my 436 - 2 word postings, take off the post counts and see how many still Volunteer, better yet send then more members to keep em busy at thier own forum. Sure thier is good help that way, better if the post count is disabled tho  B) |

That's it! Today they crossed the line. Whole horde. I like helping people and I am usually trying to be helpful, but helping on IFS is not enjoyable anymore. :/ ![]() Regards. |

I personally hate that when I go to type a response in a suppot topic, the first thing I do is check if there is anyone else in there, if not I'll go forward and start typing away, and when I click Reply, there's already 2 or 3 replies, whihc really really irritates me, especially since if these people were in a topic, I would've just clicked Back. |

Yesterday I cam on support section, I have browsed topic, especially these where there are no replies, no one was there except topic starter awaiting response, I gave him the answer, he imediatelly asked about some more details, I have hit post reply prepared my reply, added it and what do I see? Two or three posts above mine, either inaccurate or wrong info, by who? One by guy mentioned above and another "support volunteer" *blink* surprise: that you got rid of your stupid member tittle doesn't mean you stopped to be dumb, annoying idiot. Regards. |

PM a mod about it if it happens, the more proof we have of people's stupidity the sooner we can charcoal them. ![]() Welcome to our world by the way, we have to deal with this everyday. :/ If you think it's bad for you, think how our lot feel. Poor blues. But don't worry, we deal with people when we see it.

Wow. Personally, I give credit where credit's due; I don't care about who's member title/group's what. XP But personally, I think the mod staff [I'm looking at some of you. Ph34r that. O_-] are over-reacting about the member title/signature thing. So what if they add Support Volunteer to their member title/sig? That doesn't mean they want you to pay attention, or get into staff. It surely can at times, but I somewhat doubt it's always true. O_o' And I believe "Support Volunteers" are labeled as ones who give out help without getting anything in return more than the staff at times..because the staff actually runs the support boards. XP If you run a boards/service, you're somewhat entitled to put work into it, whether you're getting paid or not [in this case, you guys are getting a nice weekly check of $0.00. XP]. No? All the same, I'm sure everyone appreciates the staff just as much if not more than these "Volunteers". But, just because someone got bored and slapped the words "Support" and "Volunteer" into their posts, don't fly off the handle and think "OMG HE/SHE WANT 2 BE AN AD MIN MODERATOR NO!!!". ..And woah. Didn't know any of that stuff about Paul Ritter. Last I heard of him, he was running that RPG Index service and was an alright guy. [Typhoon Omi] |

As said before, we do give credit where it's due. We appreciate people who help us, we need them and nobody denies that. There is however a difference between a user offering actual help and the user that has become known as the 'Support Volunteer'.
The only thing we get in return is the respect of fellow staff and some leniance about things, plus a few goodies that really have no effect on this board. Sure, we get some respect from the members but I'd say we get more bullmullet. Just read Yodaminch's blog and you'll get a taste of our daily dealings. Now I'm not saying we're here for the praise but you make it sound like we're glamerous while the SV's are slumming it. The only true difference between us and your guys is the name colour, badge and powers. I don't feel better or almighty than I used to, in fact I'd say I feel the same as I used to only now I have responsabilities.
We're not just entitled, it's our responsability. We can quit at any time we like if we want to because we too are volunteers. I'm not entirely sure what you're trying to point out, everyone on this board is entitled to put some work in hence why there are people who offer help; because they're entitled to. Did you maybe mean we're supposed to because it's our job?
Again this is about past experience. We don't sit and say 'hey look, a trouble maker' because of his sig or title. In fact, I don't think any of us are actually that bothered about it at the end of the day. Sure, as individuals, some of us might think 'oh lordy, another wannabe supporter' to ourselves but I haven't seen a topic in our staff room where we pick on people because of their titles. Maybe some people watch these SVs because of their tag, maybe not, I don't know. *shrugs* I only watch the people who are reported to me. We don't care if people are aiming to be staff or not, nor do we care if they have that title or not, we care if the person is giving out rubbish support. Already today I've had complaints about two people who (used to) wear SV. I know some people who wear it aren't the stereotypical SV and we're not going to assume all are but let's face it: a person who is a few hours old on this board, bouncing into every topic and wearing that stupid tag is bound to grab our attention as a potential troublemaker. The key word being potential. We don't assume, we look, we watch, we wait. Everything about Sv's is based on past experience and considering the number of people wearing SV is dropping that's not a problem however the mould of the SV still exists. We may sound like we're overreacting, I don't see how since we've only said we're tired of the actual person rather than the silly tag, but until we stamp out most of these idiots giving inaccurate support I'd say we have every right to be worried. Support Volunteer isn't just a label, it's become a person and the numbers of these people are growing. That is what worries us. Meh, I'm just repeating myself now so I'll shut up and I assume everyone gets the point. |

Understandable. ^^' It was just coming off like the staff thought anyone proclaiming themselves a 'Support Volunteer' was a future offender or...begging to be on staff or somethin'. And I'm not saying it's your "job", or that your forced to do anything-...I kinda lost my point there mehself. =P Just ignore me, I'm tired. [Typhoon Omi] |

The ones I classify Support Volunteer are. I consider those who actually give good support. Staff helpers or Support Givers. But not volunteers. The only ones labled volunteers here are the staff. As Jay, said, my blog is filled with rants about the darker side of being a community mod. |

I'm sure being a mod's no pleasent task. But just because someone labels themselves 'Support Volunteer', it doesn't mean they're giving such thought to it. That's the title everyone gives; it's a common name on Invisionfree, so if somebody enjoys giving support, they put the words "Support Volunteer" in their sig or whatever, probably without giving it much thought. ..All the same. [Typhoon Omi] |

I disagree completely. 99.9 % of the time, those with support volunteer in the sig, gave bad support and/or made it clear they wanted to be on staff. |
