Ahem...  http://www.brindys.com/winrss/feedformat.html LOOK AT THIS SCREENSHOT It is for Avant, but not for other browsers including Firefox and IE. Try this: 'feed://fileforum.betanews.com/rss2'. Doesn't work at all on Firefox, but it does perfectly on Avant. :angel: |

From that text you missed something feed:http://example.org/rss.xml are typical feed protocol URI. :rolleyes: O about that thing you said try You need that download inorder for it to work so thats nulled and voided. rss works fine with Firefox |

Thats because we get a nice little icon on the bottom right of the browser, allowing us to subscribe to the feed...  I cant be bothered to download avant to find out if it also has that..

QUICK NOTE: Don't worry, Stefan. I've compressed and optimized these screens to be dial-up friendly How about the Interface (One of my favorites :))? Avant has a fully customizable interface. I don't mean what you're thinking, but a FULLY customizable interface (It comes Built-IN and fresh from the download, so you don't need to download some other add-on to do this) take a look at this: Not happy on how the toolbars are positioned? Re-arrange them all!!! B) All toolbars (I mean ALL OF THEM) can be undocked, and redocked. You can put the toolbars at the top or bottom of the screen (And you don't need to download an Extension to do it), or let them float within the browser screen! You still have not replied to Sipefree's, stormrtrooper9's and my posts about RSS, and you are going about its interface? I don't understand why anyone would want to move their navigation (back, forward, stop, etc..) buttons around, maybe there is some reason which i don't see.. Granted, it is a feature unique to Avant, and there are no extensions (to my knowledge) that can emulate that feature. But it just seems superflous. Edit: Name change! |

So then its just like those codes that only work on IE because M$ came up with them, not any official instituut? (easy example: <marquee> used to only work on IE ( :unsure: ) ) So they are trying to do the same as M$, what makes them both lame and just plain stupid. And why on earth would you want those bars floating in the middle of the screen? Why do you even want all those bars in the first place? The bars in your screenshot take up over twice as much space as mine do on FF. (And still, I could remove some from it )And a little quote from one of the sites you gave us:
FF is browsersoftware, not feed reader/aggregator software. So the way they put it, I'd say browsers shouldn't procces feed: stuff. And even if you made the images smaller in kb, there still big in heigth, causing me to have to scroll a lot, what I hate. So please just make it links... People that care about it will click them anyway. |

Yes, but with the cost of cluttering the bookmarks folder if you have lots of them. Avant comes with it's OWN XML feed directory BUILT-IN in the cuddly warmness of the very organized Avant SideBar. What I meant is that it isn't a valid scheme, i.e. protocol. The "feed" thing still runs via the HTTP protocol, which means that it is an extra layer on top of the application layer (in OSI terms). Feed is an unregistered, invalid scheme. Officially, it should not be supported in URLs, because it isn't registered as an URI scheme. |

1. Please keep your images as links. Some people here have 56k.. 2. Using Sage (a firefox extension) All the RSS feeds are kept in the Sage bookmark folder, away from the other bookmarks. 3. Oh yeah, FF also has a very organized sidebar displaying its bookmarks.. Edit: Added a third point.. |

Oh for God's sake. Firefox doesn't see feed:// URLs because it's not registered as an RSS reader application. The reason it doesn't support RSS natively is because its sister application Thunderbird, does. If I type a feed:// URL in my Firefox, it opens up my RSS reader application (which happens to be Safari by default ATM because I don't use RSS) and loads the page there. It's not a matter of Firefox being stupid. It's your computer not having any properly registered RSS applications. Avant doesn't count because it's obviously not registering itself as one. |
