In my opinion:

1) Postcount is important for determining reliability. I would like to lop off a few thousand posts from some members because they suck at giving support.
2) Spammers are easy to catch and punish.
3) Postcount gives legitimate helpers a small reward.
4) Postcount is off in general chat, where spamming usually happens anyways.

if you ask me we should have no post count or make all forums count for post count.

No, this is a support forum. So things that help support give posts, things that are chat don't.

Thats true but I hate it when people think that when they have a high post count they will have a better chance at getting staff so they keep spamming.

If you guys took off the post count for the support forums I would still go there and give support because it's what I love to do. :)

If you guys took off the post count for the support forums I would still go there and give support because it's what I love to do. :)

1) If that is true, then we will notice it with or without postcount.
2) Yes I do notice postcount. If I see a member with several helpful replies in a row and they have been here for awhile and have quite a few posts, hmm, this is a member to watch.
3) Personally I don't care if you're giving support just for $post++, as long as it's good, I could care less how you get your kicks.

What he means is that if there is a member with 5,000+ posts and he really never spams then that shows how reliable he is, however if you have the same member with 20+ posts you won't know how reliable he is because he only has a few posts.

That's correct. If I see a member with 1,000 posts and I start watching him and he is consistently clear, concise, helpful, yay!

 There is nothing wrong with being concise. It makes it easier for the member asking the question to understand. Concise does not just mean one word answers, it means getting right to the point.
