How about implementing a policy to close all topics that aren't descriptive? Rules like such are not too severe. After all, this is an official board of what has attempted to be a professional corporation; InvisionFree. Whether or not the administration has succeeded in its crusade for perfection is still under debate. I've noticed a great effort in some areas while lack endeavor in others. Develop a rational set of rules that prevent this board from dissolving into insipid pandemonium. >_< |

ideas Seth? if only we had something to scan the post and display "BE MORE DESCRIPTIVE!" in shocking pink letters, the world would be a much better place. but in the absence of that, you can always designate smaller problems to other members. they'll feel more important, and you'll have some work off your back. i'm quite sure there are a lot many people willing to help - in return for a few favours of course.

Make a multi-mod that asks the user to be more descriptive and if they can't explain their problem than we can't help them. Ali |

I've noticed that in General Support (and other support sections) the topics with 0 replies are usually non-descriptive, impossible to answer, or both. A lot of the time they don't give the specific details, they just say they have a problem, and expect someone to magically come and fix it. If they need help fast, they should be descriptive, and not just say "HELP! MY BOARD'S NOT WORKING!", or something like that. |

also the problem is that no one reads the FAQs or the Help documentation. or even if they did, they probably wouldn't understand it. |

I'm sure you all noticed the Support Rules revamp (at the top of gensupport forum). I did that specifically to try to cut down on the number of clueless people posting in there. I don't think it worked very well that's what happens when you cater to this demographic.

I was with him before you. And Kathy before me. So get in line for the sue Rory area. As far as bad description, I've been cutting down on my time in support progressively since feb 04, due to the stupidity in that forum. That's about the time when I complained and Seth shut me up by letting me write that huge faq that when, read answer 80% of the support topics. Recently I've just answered topics and said your topic title wasn't helpful. This type of topic would be better and here is why. But I don't have the strength, nor patience to do that every day. However staff are always brainstorming ideas to cut down on the stupid in support. |

I still say make the registration rules size 84. Its impossible for someone to tell us they didn't see the rules when they registered then.

I say you give the right to use Stanley's Cattle Prod(tm) on them if three poeople in a row can't understand the person. I am not sure how stanley would feel about this though. |

Maybe a Red, bold, and size 25 warning Text before you enter the forum. |

If I were a mod I'd just delete every post that doesn't abide by the rules. I'd have to delete/lock hundreds upon hundreds of topics though. |

Eh, exactly. Probably over %50 of current topics have poor grammar and describe the problem badly, and with the amount of topics in the support section every day, the Staff would have to do 3 times more than they do now, and waste their time deleting topics when they could be doing more important things. Think the only realistic solution is just to live with it. If it's really too bad to read, then ask the poster to try and explain a little better. |

Eh, it's just a little annoying in my opinion. And there's no punishment for it so they never have to improve their selves. |

Yeah, i agree, and in the long-term, there should be some plans to find a way to deal with it, but right now, punishing everyone who does it would waste a lot of time of the InvisionFree Staff. |
