*Paper1 is planning world domination. I am curious because I can't see how HTML and javascript can cause that much damage with Active X disabled. I believe that the advantages of an IE shell out weigh the security risks. |

Do they have a 2 for 1 deal? I might also need to go. Every time you use an IE based browser, God kills a kitten . Think of the kittens *meerooow!*

Haha. Forget security settings I guess. IE is too in/unsecure to use.
Go away and grow up. I am not attempting to challange FireFox. I want to know your experiences with the browser you've got. If your going to be immature, then at least let me beat you with a stick to give you a ligitimate reason to go to hospital. Is Opera secure? It also looks good. If I can't use Avant I'll use that instead. |

Yes, the reason I don't like it is it has bloat from the email client (and the free ads that I don't want to pay to remove). It is standard complaint. |

Please explain what you mean. Yeah I'm using it now. It does seem good. And fast I've got too many browsers installed, so I'm going to get rid of some.

Opera has a built in email client, which I don't need (I use web based mail). |

Avant still has the same out of date rendering engine that IE uses. Using IE or Avant only limits your ability to view updated XHTML and CSS. IE/Avant even lacks support for some HTML 4 elements and can not display semi-transparent PNG images correctly. Using Avant is like using a rotary phone over a touch tone, as I said in the other 10-20 Avant/Maxthon/IE topics we've had here in the past. |

Wait yes you are. You say you like Avant and that your fed up with Firefox. Then you ask for other people's oppions. Now when I say I like firefox and it's features you get pissy. In all reality I was saying the benifit of a shell is minimal when compairing it to the problems. I was just attempting to say that in a light-heated way, but apparently everyone else in the world can't this in term of jokes and sarcasm like me, what was I thinking? |

No, FireFox is still my main loved browser. As soon as I can work out a way to solve some of these bugs, I'll use it again. If you can help me to: - Make it load faster - Stop it going unstable when I download many files - Stop the files corrupting Then I will use it again. Stormrtrooper9 is right. ActiveX can't really be turned off, and websites can exploit this. Avant is good, but the IE engine it uses is not. Saying, it has bad security holes that allows spyware to get it is bogus. I could easily say the same thing for FireFox or Opera, and with virtually no evidence on either of our statements. They could all be true. I did find a website that talked about the security risks, providing reassuring comments, and so now I am satisfied that Avant Browser is flawed because of IE. I also think this anti-IE feeling is way over everyone's heads. Yes it isn't a good browser, but it's not the be all and end all of the world. It is the main used browser and as such is likely to be attacked the most.
It's "sarcastic humour" comments like these that make me pissy. I am trying to keep this topic nice, and not turn it into an argument. Tell me, in how many of my posts have I argued "This browser is crap" or "You like this browser, I think I'm going to faint". I want to know your opinions, but if you can’t do that without being rude then please leave the topic. Up to now people have been fairly good about sharing their opinions in a constructive manner. Please don’t stop now.

Woohoo.. another flame war. Let's see, what did we learn so far: - IE sucks, bad rendering engine, unsafe. - Avant made a bad choice in rendering engine. - Firefox is safe, fast and extensible, though Paper1 seems to have some problems with it (which I personally never encountered). - Opera, Safari (others?) are also good browsers, faster than Firefox, but lacking in other parts. And yeah, Opera's nice. It has some nifty features, is standards compliant and light-weight. I don't use it as my main browser because I don't really like the UI. Too bloated. Plus, the banner's annoying and I don't want to spend money on a browser. |

- Tweak it. - Download a couple of files at a time. - Don't mess around with the files. |

Someone currently makes distributions for different systems. I wander whether this would be more suited to my system. |
