I have tried MSN Explorer, IE, Opera, Crazy Browser, Mozilla Suite and Firefox. I found FF to be the best. |

On the mac platform (when $OS != Ubuntu), Firefox is good, but not as good as WebKit based browsers. Safari was the first widely used browser to feature tabbed browsing, popup blocking, and über standards compliant rendering engine based on KHTML (from KDE's Konqueror). Also, since Safari's core, WebKit (which has always been available as a Framework (windows users might call Frameworks 'DLL's)) became open-source, it has only been getting better. It was also the first browser to pass the Acid2 test (the test for über standards compiant browsers), and because of that, many Mac developers have benefited because WebKit itself is updated with these cool features. </praise> <?php rant <<END I really don't like the coldness toward Macs here on IF. IF is probably one of the biggest Ubuntu user groups around, so obviously you're not happy with Windows. I use Ubuntu because I like to try other platforms for programming and testing, but I would never install Ubuntu on a Mac without leaving Mac OS X (pronounced Mac OS Ten) on it as well, because it is just a totally perfect operating system, on a solid core of Unix, using an open-source base and Kernel. It never crashes, and you only restart your machine if you want to. Linux is cool, but I still find it more bulky and slow than Mac OS X. Also, Seth's comment that Gnome being 'Mac-like' is far from true. Gnome is almost the opposite of what Macs look like. Thank you for reading END; ?> |

Avant is not a browser. Avant "Plugin" would be more appropriate. Avant is just a plugin to Internet Explorer, nothing else. Avant has all of the features of Internet Explorer, because you are running Internet Explorer. Before I found this out, I thought it was a browser based on IE, but when I saw "iexplore.exe", I had found out it WAS Internet Explorer itself! Avant is not a browser. It's a PLUGIN. I wasted time defending a waste of space on my hard disk with a 10-Page topic for nothing. I'm a Firefox dude now.

Firefox> Anything that runs off Gekko Engine> Debt> Support Volunteers> IE and related crap. That is basically it. I used to use IE (poor me, I was young. ), then I downloaded Firefox. I was happy with it for a while, but then I switched back (:o) I switched to Firefox again later, after IE let a virus in that deleted some stupid Windows file that allowed me to go on the Internet. Firefox makes me happy, and it should do the same with you.

It doesn't and I want it to. But it isn't. I need a fix, and leave Avant alone, I know it is crap, because it is based on IE.

A solution to your problem? Well, if these are really bugs with Firefox itself, you might want to see if they are fixed in 1.1. I do know that memory usage problems are supposed to be strongly improved on in the next release, but I'm not sure about your other problems. |

Oo..kay. Guys, let's try to keep this topic clean. Supporting a browser is one thing, making posts like "GET FIORFOKS" is something else. If anything, you're just making yourself look stupid. |
